We can honor Sergeant Nicolas G. Sottile Sr. by remembering his name and reflecting on his contributions to our lives and to our community. Join me in honoring this brave man who made the ultimate sacrifice of losing his life while protecting the lives of others.
America is richer because of his service. America is poorer because of his loss.
The Gospel of John 14:27, offers comfort in the words of Jesus, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
God bless Sergeant Nicolas Sottile Sr. and his family. We will never forget you.

Mr. Sottile, thank you so much for all that you did for my family, my Father, and all of Lake Placid. Your ultimate sacrifice has been felt by our entire town and more. I hope that as you look down on us all, our town makes you proud, and I hope that your family can be easy and find peace in knowing that you are still watching over them and protecting them. Rest in peace.

Nick,
Your memory will ride with me throughout the rest of my career with the Patrol. You were often referred to as Sgt.Evil. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. You were always there when I needed something. You went above and beyond for me as one of your subordinates.
Rest with the Lord in peace and happiness.
With much gratitude,

As a former officer, I am sickened each time I read of another incident like this. Sgt. Sottile was serving to
protect the people of Florida and for that, we can all
be thankful. To his friends, co-workers and family, I
cannot tell you how sorry I am that this Trooper's life was taken by some coward. When the Thin Blue Line is crossed
by tragedy, all who have worn the badge share in the sorrow.
May Trooper Sottile rest in peace.

May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.
