Reflections for Sergeant Nicholas G. Sottile
With all the beautiful and symbolic words in the English language none do justice to express the grattitude we have for the 24 years you have given to protect us. May you rest peacefully and be reunited with your family in the afterlife.
To Sergeant Sottile's family - we say thank you. His life will not be in vain. We will continue where he left off protecting the innocent and bringing those others to justice.
Submitted respectfully on behalf of myself and my department,
Officer Matthew Lewek
Menomonee Falls (WI) Police Department

Each day when we begin our tour of duty we place our lives on the line, we do this because we hope to make a difference and because we love what we do. May your family find peace in knowing there has to be reason for everything. To your family, trust in the Lord for strength, and look to your friends and family for support.

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and part of america died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand in court with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend many long lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation wont fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street and he stands at each rookies side.
He answered the call
of himself gave his all
AND A PART OF AMERICA DIED.

Rest in peace. You gave me a ticket for speeding a few months back (I was guilty) and you were totally professional and actually nice to me even though I was in the wrong. You may have even saved me for making me slow down. I will continue to drive the limits in your honor.

My heart goes out to the family of this brave soul. I used to know the fear of having one of your officer family members work in such a dangerous position. To Nick's wife....May God bless your very soul and know that you are in my heart and I grieve for you. Please know that your husband dearly enjoyed his job and he died doing what he loved. His heart was so big to protect us as average citizen's everyday with the his bravery. May God help you find peace.
