Reflections for Detective Troy Lamont Chesley, Sr.

To The Chesley Family

GOD'S HEAVENLY GARDEN

Sometimes God picks the flower that is still in full bloom; Sometimes the rosebud's chosen That we feel he's picked too soon. Sometimes the flower is fading with petals floating down, But God knows the perfect time to gather flowers from the ground. There is a heavenly garden In which God takes great pleasure because he's placed within it the loved ones that we treasure. He walks among the blossoms giving them eternal rest, and I know that it must please him because he chose our very best. May prayers thoughts are with you this day and everyday after.

Troy, I remember your first day at Western. You were standing against the wall wide-eyed with an armload of books. It's been years since our paths have crossed, but I am glad to see you stuck it out and fought the good fight. I've read that you were a great cop. I'm not surprised. I am very, very sorry about your boys. They are in my prayers. Some boys have the good fortune to know their father for many years, but your two boys are fortunate that their dad was a hero. That's what you are, Troy. I am proud to have known you those years ago.May you forever rest in the arms of God.

TROY,
YOU WHERE SUCH A HUMBLE, PEACEFUL, CARING, AND GOOD PERSON TO ALL. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD PASS SO SOON. IT SADDENS ME TO KNOW THAT WE WON'T GET THE CHANCE TO TALK AND LAUGH AGAIN. SO MANY OFFICERS GO TO WORK AND HOPE TO SEE THEIR FAMILIES AT THE END OF THE DAY. UNFORTUNATELY, YOUR LIFE WAS SNUFFED AWAY FROM YOU. GOD SAW YOUR SUFFING, SORROWS, AND PAIN BECAUSE HE THAT SITS ON THE THRONE HAS REMEMBERED YOU IN YOUR TIME OF NEED. GOD NEEDED YOU MOST. HE HAS TAKEN AWAY YOUR HARDSHIPS AND NOW GIVEN YOU JOY. I (LIZ), YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL MISS YOU DEARLY, BUT EARTH HAS NO SORRY THAT HEAVEN CAN'NT BARE. I PRAY THAT GOD GIVES US ALL THE STRENGHT WITHIN TO CARRY ON AND KNOW THAT WE MUST LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER AS TROY DID FOR EACH AND EVERY PERSON HE KNEW. TROY, YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU AS IF YOU WHERE MY BROTHER AND MY PRAYERS ARE ALWAYS WITH THE FAMILY. REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER AND FRIEND. YOUR BUDDY AND CHILDHOOD FRIEND LIZ. (TERRI)

Troy,

When I received the news from Lisa I just could not believe what she was saying to me. I was out of town and didnt hear about what happened until she called. I will always remember when I first met you, you were about 14 with a smile that went on forever. I could not believe that you were going to join the police force but if there was anyone that could make a difference on the streets of Baltimore it was you. Troy, my heart is very heavy today knowing that God has called you home, I pray that your tragic death somehow will bring about change in our city and hopefully get through to some of our young people out here lost. I somehow stumbled upon this site as I was looking over the fallen officers list and I came upon Officer Brian Winder who was killed in 2004. He was also a good friend of mine and school mate. I want to say that thanks to both of you who risked your lives each day to make a difference in our community. My prayers go out to you and the family, you will never be forgotten.

Troy,
In September 1993 we began our dream job together. I will never forget how much fun we had together in the Academy and then later on the rough street of Baltimore. Seeing your sliming face really had an effect on everyone. It's hard to face the fact of what happened. This country has lost one of the best Police Officers to wear the Badge. You are a hero, and will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace.

Troy, I am so very sorry that you are no longer with us. You have been a very dear freind to me for the past 13 years. And although our paths did not cross for periods of time, I can truly say that when they did it was ALWAYS, ALWAYS, a pleasant experience. The moments that we did share in my "younger" years I will always cherish: because of you I am a better driver(HAHA). Who would have thought that when our paths crossed on Saturday, December 23, 2006 that would the last time and as usual it was good seeing an old friend. I wish I would have told you thanks for all the times you watched out for me just becasue you were in the neighborhood but I always assumed that sooner or later out paths would cross again and that I would tell you the next time, but now they wont. I am so very sorry that your sons will have to live their lives without you.
