Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Rahamy Mitchell

I am still a new officer however I can probably relate to Deputy Mitchell's thoughts as he was going to that call. I've burned those brakes many times and sometimes the only thing going through my head is to get to that other officer that needs me. Deputy Mitchell is a hero because that's what he was trying to do--help his fellow officers.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13

Sincerely,

A fellow Texas Peace Officer.

Here at the Canon City Internet Radio sends the family, loved ones and all who wear the badge of law enforcement our deepest sympathies and prayers. Another Officer taken from us by someone who had no regard for life.
"When God Made Peace Officers"
Unknown Author
When the Lord was creating peace officers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one"

And the Lord said, "Have you read the spec on this order?" A peace officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn't touch, and not wrinkle his uniform."

He has to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a homicide scene that night, canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and testify in court the next day."

He has to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half-eaten meals. And he has to have six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands...no way."

"It's not the hands that are causing me problems." said the Lord, "It's the three pairs of eyes an officer has to have."

"That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.

The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through the bulge in a pocket before he asks, 'May I see what's in there sir?' (When he already knows and wishes he'd taken that accounting job.) Another pair here in the side of the head for his partner's safety. And another pair of eyes here in the front that can look reassuringly at a bleeding victim and say. 'You'll be all right ma'am.' When he knows it isn't so."

"Lord," said the angel, touching his sleeve, "rest and work on this tomorrow."

"I can't" said the Lord, "I already have a model that can talk a 250 pound drunk into a patrol car without incident, and feed a family of five on a civil service pay check."

The angel circled the model of the peace officer very slowly. "Can it think?" she asked.

"You bet." said the Lord. "It can tell you the elements of a hundred crime scenes; recite Miranda warnings in his sleep; detain, investigate, search, and arrest a gang member on the street in less time than it takes five learned judges to debate the legality of the stop...and still keeps its sense of humor."

"This officer also has phenomenal personal control. He can deal with crime scenes painted in hell; coax a confession from a child abuser; comfort a murder victim's family; and then read in the daily paper how law enforcement isn't sensitive to the rights of criminal suspects."

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her fingers across the cheek of the peace officer. "There's a leak." She pronounced. "I told you that you are trying to put to much in this model."
"That's not a leak," said the Lord, "it's a tear."
"What's the tear for?" asked the angel.
"It's for bottled-up emotions; for fallen comrades; for commitment to that funny piece of metal called his badge; for justice."
"You're a genius." said the angel.
The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put it there." he said.
We don't understand why some of our loved ones are taken so early but God has special plans for them all

Rahamy made me laugh a few days ago when I needed a reason to laugh. Donnie, his previous supervisor at Fannin Co. SO, is 8000 miles away and feels helpless to help "his guys" during this very sad time. Donnie wanted Rahamy to know that Rahamy Mitchell will always be one of "his guys."

Rahamy, where do I first start? You always came into to my work and the first words out of your mouth was, “hey Tim Jr., how are you doing?” I will never forget seeing you at Kwik Check Store on Hwy 121. That’s every cops home in Bonham or Fannin County. I started to believe that was the new police department or sheriff’s office! What can I saw about you??? You always had a smile on your face and made me laugh when I really needed it the most. You made the party a hit….all the ladies loved you. You coming in your shorts and flip flops when it was cold outside I think around 63 degrees and windy……..you stated “I hate wearing long pants and if I don’t have too, then I am wearing shorts and flip flops.” Rahamy you made a difference in my life and especially all your police brothers and dispatchers. Every time I past your house I start looking for you police unit, but it’s not there. I called him Mr. Green Gaint, but he had a heart like God. Always knowing what to say and how to improve the problem by giving you a ride or just giving you a hug or even making you smile. FC 120 spend 6 great years with Fannin County and will be missed by his police brothers, son, friends and loved ones. On January 7th, BPD208, BPD214, and myself was the last three talking to him at Kwik Chek and we were just joking and laughing when you got that call to help back the Leonard Officer. I didn’t know that would be that last time we would see you. So I am writing this because I would just like to say my final Good Bye. God Bless You Fannin County 120. Make sure Heaven is safe for us and just remember Rahamy we love you, but your soul will be in our hearts forever. We will keep your journey going....Thanks very every! Timothy La Vergne II

I only got to really know Rahamy from his good friends, the Perkins, the last 3 years and he was a sweetheart. He always thought of others before he thought of himself and his son was his PRIDE and JOY!
We got to spend Thanksgiving with him this year and he really talked to my Mom the most that day. That helped her because she is still grieving the death of my Dad after 3 years. He knew how she felt and what she was goign through as he was still grieiving the lost of his Mother several years earlier.
You will be missed more than anyone can say and I will always carry you in my heart and thoughts. I thank God for giving me the pleasure of knowing you and I will see you soon.
You may be gone but YOU will never be forgotten.
LOVE YOU!!!!
