Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Rahamy Mitchell

Rest In Peace fallen brother. Keep us safe from above...
SPD, 0201

January 11, 2007

Rahamy was one of "my guys", as I was his supervisor for the bigger part of his law enforcement career. More than just co-workers, my guys were my friends. Making a difficult arrest became so much easier with Rahamy assisting. Huge guy, huge heart. I loved Rahamy. I loved each of the guys. We were family and I hope that all of you who worked with Rahamy will remain "family" for each other in this time of sorrow. Keifer, I love you. I'll pray for you to be like your dad. Guys, I love you.

Rahamy,

I just want to let you and everyone else know that you were not only my partner, but my friend as well. I remember times that make me laugh and times that make me feel that you were a brother to me. I will never forget the long nights we worked together and you were always there for me to make sure I was safe and we were both going home. I remember the times when you were at the hospital when "Teeter and Totter" were being born. I want you to know that it is not only me that will miss you, but Sabrina "Beaner", Teeter, and Totter. We Love You and we will never forget you. You will always be in our heart.

We Love You,
Greg and Family

I still can't belive you left and didn't say bye. You were like a brother to me. It seems like just yesterday you and I were on our way to savoy to standoff and I was gripping at you for the way you were driving. But i can tell you one thing if you were driving we usually were there was no one anyone else was going to beat us to the call. I would give anything to be sitting in the seat next to you again going to a call.

I was just talking to Chris and he reminded me of the time that i let you borrow my glock to go shoot. The next thing i know is that you are calling me and saying come back to the deputy pool. You wouldn't say why. I get there and there is a hole in the wall that went into the Hiway Patrol office and smoke still in the room. There you sit telling me that oops sorry didnt think it was loaded. Then you and I arguing over who was going to call the Sheriff and explain.

You were the best friend anyone could ever have I am just lucky that I had worked and then become good friends with. Seems like when i went to work at Dallas County we could never get our days off where we could go play golf or go to the range. You might not know it but all those times going to the range or behind your house paid off im alot better at rifle now then I was before and YES im not jerking the trigger any more.

Thankyou for all of the fun times we had. Thankyou for always being there good and bad. I could always come to you and you would tell me straight I may not like it but i know when you told me it was the truth and from the heart and usually you were right. I already miss you man. Save me a spot in heaven because when i get there we will have alot to catch up on.

I can't believe you are gone. Everyone always believes that there is plenty of time to say the things you want or should say. Time is short.
You are a hero, Rahamy. God must have needed a new hero up in heaven.
We will all watch over Keifer for you from here. I am sure that you will be watching over him from above.
See you again in heaven!

Deputy Mitchell, thank you for your service. From what I've read you were a great officer, a better man, and a greater father. There is a scripture that I hold near my heart always; Matthew 5;9 "Blessed are the Peacemakers for they SHALL be called sons of God". Those of us in law enforcement know what that word (shall) means. You were a peacemaker and you are a son of God. I have no doubt you are walking the streets of gold and there is no other person I would rather have walking with my father than a Texas Peace Officer. I will pray daily for your boy that he will follow in his fathers steps and never lose sight of the path you and God have created for him.
Thanks again Deputy Mitchell, I look forward to meeting you when the time comes.

There is so much that could be said about you "Remy". You were there whenever I needed. You always knew what to say. You were one of the most honest people I knew. You were strong but kind and gentle. I could cry on your shoulder (when I could reach it) no matter what the situation. My love and prayers are sent out to Keifer and your remaining family. You were my friend, my counselor, my brother, my "Remy"..... I feel lost without being about to call you. Remy, you were all around a great person. You never tried to sugar coat anything you just told it. And somehow it never came across mean. I love you and miss you, friend.. May you be in rest..
