Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Rahamy Mitchell

To the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Mitchell, I am very sorry for the loss of a brother law enforcement officer. But rest assure that he is now patroling the streets of gold and he is now a guardian angel to us all. Rest in peace my brother.

To my other brother. Rahamy you were always the life of the party. You,Graig and Matt were like the three amigos.Usually were you saw one you saw the other.I am really going to miss you.You were there for all the holidays and sometimes just lunch at moms.I'll miss the times we have come in and you were piled up on the couch passed out from a long nights work and boy could you snore.
I will forever miss your hugs and your laughter. Love always your adopted sis, DEB

I still can’t believe you are gone. I have thought long and hard about what I would say to if I had one more chance to see you. There are so many things that we leave unsaid, thinking that we will be able to say them later and then in an instant that opportunity is taken away.

Sheriff Moore said, that you commanded respect just by your mere presence. I respected and loved you for the person that you were. People often make the mistake of judging us by our appearance. Those who did that in your case missed knowing one of the kindest people I have ever known. Those of us, who knew you best, know what a big softie you were, especially where Keifer was concerned.

I will miss laughing and joking around with you late at night. I sit here and so think about all the funny things that happened when we worked together. I will really miss those times. But, I am thankful that I was lucky enough to share them with you.

We are sitting here talking about the day you arrested the dwi offender and his dog and put them both in bookin. Those are the times I will really miss.

There will never be another one like you. I love you and will miss you.

The policeman stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining
just as brightly as his brass.

Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
No Lord. I guess I ain't.
Because those who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough...
and sometimes I've been violent
because the streets are awful tough.

But I never took a penny
that wasn't mine to keep...
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
it needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much.
But if you don't...I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
where the saints had often trod,
as the policeman waited quietly
for the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman.

You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven's streets.
You've done your time in hell."

Gulf County Sheriff's Office

Fannin County 120, like your Sheriff said, "he was a gentle gaint, but even had a gaint heart." We will miss you patrolling the streets of Fannin County, but your journey here will live on. It's now time to patrol the streets of Heaven. Please watch over us because one day we will come together and work Heaven's Beat. Rest In Peace our Brother. -From Your Brothers & Sisters of Bonham Police Department, Fannin County, Texas

To Our Fallen Officers
You have done your duty,
kept all safe from harm's way.
until that fateful day,
when you were taken away
from your Family, Friends, Fellow Officers,
and the Communities, in which you
swore "to Protect & Serve"

Your watch is now over,
may you rest with your
Brother & Sister Officers
whom have sworn the same before you.

Time is now for Us to take the watch
as you stand on The Almighty's right side.
May all of you watch & protect us from harm's way.

Rest in Peace my Fellow Officers.
You will always be forever in our hearts.

Rahamy,

I know that I keep writing on here, but I miss you bro. You wouldn't believe the community response to your death. I am humbled by the support shown, you would be too. A bunch of us were recalling some of your "Rahamy" moments the other day. It almost made me feel like we were taking a midnight break at Kwik Chek again, trading war stories of past calls.

We committed your body to the ground today, but refreshed your memory forever. You will never be forgotten. Rest well Rahamy, we'll 10-25 someday on the flip side.

I am very saddened to hear of the loss of a fine officer in the line of duty. I pray for his family, friends and colleagues. This is a stark and painful reminder that no police action is "routine" and that motor vehicles kill far more officers than do firearms, though we often don't even give it a second thought. I ask for all of my brother and sister officers to PLEASE drive carefully out there. This fine man now patrols a beat in Heaven for St. Michael. Rest easy brother, your tour is over and we have it from here. Be safe out there brother and sister officers.
