When we heard the sound of many police sirens last night fly past our house, we knew that something bad had happened. When we heard the news this morning, we were sad yet also appreciative for the men and women that we have in our great state that are here to protect us. Thank you Trooper Jenks for keeping my community safe. You gave your life for us.

How many times have we all made that "routine" traffic stop. As we do with all line-of-duty deaths, we spoke of you today during our briefing. This day and age all we usually hear about is the war over seas, but not so much the war you fought at home. If we didn't read the teletype today, we would have never known the war you fought or the sacrifice you made for us. To the Jenks Family - thank you for the sacrifice you made, we want you to know - you will never be alone. God Bless You and Trooper Jenks

This is another senseless sacrifice of a decent young man serving and protecting his community with his life. I pray for comfort for his family and fellow LEO's. Folks need to understand that drugs DO kill, one way or another. I can hardly control my anger over this.

The media focus will eventually fall away from Trooper Jenks sacrifice and onto these murderers to ensure their rights aren't violated. What about this kids right to live and prosper? Why is he now deprived of those life experiences we take for granted?

I am a retired LEO with relatives who are county cops and I know the affects of drug abuse. You parents with teenagers must step up and prevent drug use and addiction in your own houses.
