I am married to a deputy with the MCSO and everytime he leaves home for duty I shutter to think what may happen while he is out on the road. I can only imagine how Trooper Jinks' wife and family must be feeling now. I am proud to say I had dinner on a few occasions with Trooper Jinks and other Troppers from Marshall County, Tennessee and he was a great guy that will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers to the Jinks family.

Thanks for the many nice messages you have sent our way. Calvin was an outstanding young man, very dedicated to his job, and a happy newly wed. We were lucky to have him for a short period in our life. My husband retired from the Highway Patrol in 84, so this has been a bad shock for us. Again thanks for the special messages.

God speed Trooper Jenks.

I have worked this road several times at all hours of the night. THP often had an Trooper out on Hwy 14 and I always stopped out with them, but never met Jenks. I've since transferred out of the Memphis Sector. As I young officer myself, the news of this death was very hard to hear. All I've thought today is that I've done a similar stop, similar circumstances, and when drugs and guns were in the vehicle. It could have easily been me. May God be with the family of Trooper Jenks and may he rest in peace.

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this right now. I was in your shoes last year around this time. My husband was killed on New Years Day. Calvin will be remembered as a Hero and he will be honored forever. The highway patrol is a huge family as you will come to find out.

One verse that has helped me through the some of the toughest times is "I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not evil, to give you a future and a hope." We will never fully understand God's plan, but we have to have faith that He knows what He is doing.

I will always remember.
