Trooper Jenks,
My husband, Lake County Deputy Wayne Koester, was killed on February 9, 2005. As God's eyes fell upon Wayne, they to, have fallen upon you, for He has chosen another beautiful, strong and brave soul to guard his kingdom. As Wayne continues to guide us, may you keep a gentle hand on your family and give them the strength they need to get through the tough road ahead.
Mrs. Jenks,
I could not come to this site for a while after his death. I just couldn't read the reflections our friends and others left. However, this site is not meant to cause painful memories but to honor our husbands for their bravery. Now, I find comfort when I read the thoughts everyone leaves. I know he was loved and respected by everyone he met and for the others who never had the chance to know what a wonderful husband and friend he was. I know your husband shares the same qualitiesas mine. I know that if given another chance, they would do the same job again and again. A job so few are able and have the courage to do. They are a special breed of men and there are very few like them. I feel very honored to have shared a part of his life, a life of a true hero in every sense of the word. Always remember how much your husband loves you. Dont be afraid to call on your family and friends when you just don't fell like getting out of bed. That is where your support comes from. You will find your strength in the love you and your husband shared. Always remember, he is in your heart whenever you need to talk to him.

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. 2 So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. 3 For the authorities do not frighten people who are doing right, but they frighten those who do wrong. So do what they say, and you will get along well. 4 The authorities are sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for you will be punished. The authorities are established by God for that very purpose, to punish those who do wrong.

GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY> REST IN PEACE

My thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Jenks' family, friends, and fellow officers. May God watch over all of us in law enforcement as we continue our tours of duty and fight to serve and protect the citizens of our respective communities. This brave man gave the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of this mission. To the men and women of the Tennessee Highway Patrol - be careful as you patrol the many deserted and lonely streets of our great state. Know that you are never alone, for you now have one more guardian angel riding in that black and tan with you.

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." Trooper Jenks - rest in peace as you patrol those streets of gold.

Fayette County Sheriff's Department
