Reflections for Trooper Calvin Wayne Jenks

Calvin,

There's not a day that passes that I don't have the same fear of what your wife is going through. Being married to a cop seems to be worse than actually being one at times. Just know as you watch out for her from heaven, we are watching out for her on earth. Also know no one will rest until we bring those "boys" to justice. We will not let their punishment be a slap in the face to your family! You will be greatly missed by everyone. Rest peacefully Calvin, your brothers have it from here.

My heart breaks for your wife and family. My prayers will be with them and all those in the Tennessee Highway Patrol. I also lost my husband in the line of duty. Looking at your picture reminds me of my husband when he first joined the patrol, I know he was there to greet you. Rest in peace. You will never be forgotten.

Calvin, where do I begin? It has been a week now and I feel the same as I did when I got the call. You were never one of my men; you were one of my boys. You were a supervisors dream and even a better friend. You had a way to brighten even my worse days. Our loss is definately heaven's gain. You will always be missed.

You have made a great impact on my life. You're a true hero to me and everybody else that I know. What you did , risking your life for our safety, was something I will never forget. It takes heart and bravery of what you did, and one day I hope I have that heart and bravery to do that. I'll always remember you and your family in my prayers. I wish to become like you one day.

It must be true, at least in this case, that the good do die young. My prayers and my heart go out to the family of Trooper Jenks as it is they who will carry the sorrow of his death for the rest of thier life. God bless Trooper Jenks and all of his family and friends and co-workers. He is surely at rest in a better place waiting for the rest of us to join him one day.
