It is hard to believe how time moves so quickly. Each time I head to my parents in Culleoka and see the highway sign with your name. I smile a little bit. You and your sacrifice will not be forgotten

I worked with his Dad (Norm) for many years and remember Cal growing up. Everyone was so proud when he fulfilled his dream of becoming a State Trooper. What a great guy, trying to look out for all of us. You are truly missed.

It's been awhile since I've been here. I can still remember getting that news like it was yesterday. You've paid a debt we all still owe. I think it was Winston Churchill who said, "You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give"

I was the media intern for THP during Jenk's cadet class.
I followed these guys around all day to record their training. During that time, I learned a new appreciation for law enforcement.

I worked for a police department in Marshall County where Calvin was first assigned. Right away Calvin made many friends and he would talk to anyone. He was very dedicated to his job and family. So dedicated in fact that once we were on the way to court at approximately 0730 when Calvin made a traffic stop and arrested a young man for DUI. I backed him up and he asked if I could esxplain to the DA why he was not at court so the Judge woyldn't be upset. A truely great public servant, friend and person. RIP Calvin Jenks.

In 2006 I was sent to Bonnaroo in District 2, I worked the road assignments with Calvin, we had a long but fun week. On this job you size people up pretty quick, especially other Trooper. Calvin was one of the good ones, great personality just an all-around great guy. I was deeply saddened when I heard of his death; I knew it was not just a great loss to his family but to ours also.
It’s been some years now, but I still think often of those bonnaroo days and how things can change in a shift. To all still out there, stay safe, stay alert, and go home at the shifts end.

Calvin I hope you are driving one of Gods new chariots while on patrol up there. I will never forget the feeling of disbelief of your demise when I attended your funeral. We had only met a short time before. Keep the Highway of Heaven safe as you did down here.

Trooper Jenks,
Was thinking of you today. You are heavy on mine and my dad's (Ret. Capt. Thomas Smith) minds. I still remember the phone call from my dad like it was a few minutes ago. I thank you for your dedication to keeping the roads safe for us. I had planned so many nice, thoughtful, and kind words for this reflection, but they seem to fail me now. I will be attending your Sea of Blue memorial later this evening. Its truly touching and moving to see all the support and care people have for you. I guess all there si left to say is, thank you Trooper Calvin.
You will NEVER be forgotten.

My Dearest Family and Friends
Somethings I'd like to say but first of all to let you know that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven where I dwell with Our Lord above. where there's no more tears or sadness just eternal Love. Please don't be unhappy because I'm out of sight, remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and Night.
The Day I had to leave you when my Life on earth was through God picked me up and hugged me and He said I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, You were missed while you were gone. As for your Dearest Family they'll be here later on.
I need you here so badly as part of my big plan. There's so much we have to do to help our Moral Man.
Then God gave me a list of things that He wished for me to do, and foremost on that list of mine is to watch and care for you.
I'll be beside you everyday and through out the years, And when your sad. I'm standing there to wipe away your tears.
When You lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight God and I are close you in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on Earth and all the loving years, because your only human they are bound to bring you tears.
Please don't be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned, But if I were to tell you You wouldn't understand. One thing is for certain, though my life on Earth is over I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
To My many Friends, Trust God knows what is best.I'm still not far away from you I'm just beyond the crest.
So, If you can help somebody who is in sorrow or in pain, then you can say to God at night my day was not in vain.
And now I am contented that with my life. it was worth while,Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
If you meet somebody who is down and feeling low just lend a hand and pick him up as on your way you go.
When Your walking down the street and you've got me on your mind just know I'm walking in your footstep only a half a step behind.
And if you feel a gentle breeze or wind upon your face that's me just giving you a great big hug or just a soft embrace.
I will always love you from the land way up above We'll be in touch again soon
PS God sends his Love.
