Reflections for Trooper Calvin Wayne Jenks
My thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Jenks family and co-workers. I recently lost my husband. Know that time will heal the wound, but the scar will last forever so he is never forgotten.

Trooper Jenks, Thank you for serving the citizens of Tennessee until the lord took you home. May your family know that you are in a better place than you were here on earth, you are now resting with the lord. Fear not, fro GOD is the master of all things, and he will bring swift justice to your senseless murder. May GOD bless you and your family.

To the family of Trooper Jenks, my heart and prayers are with you and your family. I know first hand that even as time passes the loss is still felt greatly by those closest to it. My friend/brother Shane Britton (Cass County, MI Sheriff's Dept.) was killed July 19, 2000, and I still miss him. To E.Ann--I think that it is wonderful that you are printing all of these reflections for your niece. My heart goes out to her as she goes through this difficult time. All I can say is that the days do get easier, you are able to function as normally as you can once again. It takes time and a lot of love and patience from others. It is also important that others know that her husband will never be forgotten and that he is a True Hero.
Trooper Jenks, thank you for your service and may you rest in peace.

RIP MR JENKS
"THE FINAL INSPECTION"
The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell

Hey Calvin. You've just really been on my mind today. I still have the fear of what happened to you every time the hubby leaves the house! I just pray you are not only watching over Sarah Beth, but all your fellow officers. I know they seem to be in overdrive since your horrible death Calvin. They want nothing more than to honor you & the only way they know how is to continue your work for you. He comes home telling me about a new drug bust every week. I know he's making you proud. Keep the streets safe up there.

I am writing to the family and friends of Trooper Calvin W. Jenks of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. I am remembering you and your loved one in my prayers because I know prayer helps.
I did not know Trooper Jenks, but he looks to be one who is gifted with personality and many excellent personal qualities. He is so handsome. I am sorry that he had to go, but he truly is in a better place now. I feel sorry for the loss to the state of Tennessee. Trooper Jenks did a valuable service for his state and for other states in putting his life on the line each time he went on duty.
Please know that God will stand by you. I have experienced the terrible emptiness, but God has helped me so much. He does this through the many caring and loving people who remember Calvin and want to share your loss.

Trooper Jenks, This is my second reflection for you. I am here with a heavy heart, I am constantly thinking of you, I am constantly thinking of how you ended your last shift. You went way to early, however, You are the reason why I am a better cop today. It hurts to know that it took a tragedy to make me a beter COP...You are obvioulsy loved and WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.... I am miles away, but always with you....May your killers be forever in ..HELL!...

Hey Calvin, was just thinking about you. We've been out here trying hard to hit the drug dealers where it hurts and have had a couple of nice busts shortly after your death, in your honor(several out of our class 404). For some of us it's the best way to honor your service. I suffered a pretty big loss on the job just weeks after your death and it's been hard but all I can do is keep going. Keep us safe down here buddy....

I keep coming back to this web page and think how many times working alone I conducted a traffic enforcement vehicle pullover, and how things could have so easily gone sideways. I realize that it was the prayers of so many out there, that kept me safe.
Obviously, God was ready for Trooper Jenks to join His guardians at the Gates of Heaven.....
His family and friends are in my prayers.

Calvin, I hope that you had a wonderful Easter yesterday. I know that you did because you are now with the meaning of Easter. You are thought about everyday. I hope that you are looking out for your Sarah and the rest of your family. I guess you know that we got some new drug dogs here in Columbia and they were given in your memory. Talk to you later.

Trooper Jenks I never knew you and well you lived over 800 miles from me but when I heard what happened and everytime I come back to your page I cry for the fact that you did nothing wrong but you lost your life anyway. Things like this are what are making me want to be a LEO even more everyday. R.I.P. Trooper Jenks and you and your family will be in my prayers always.

I was working the night you were murdered. I remember they kept putting out those BOLO's for the guys that did this to you. It was so sad. They were saying they were playing back the tape from your car for further information. I could only imagine having to watch that. When I found out how young you were that didn't help much either. This was a senseless act and very tragic.
