Since we here in Montgomery lost one of our officer's in September of 2006, I check this web site quite often. When I first saw Officer Jenks picture I was really touched. Maybe it's because my own 15 year-old son looks ALOT like Officer Jenks. He too is planning on being a policeman. I feel compelled to check his site when I can. Maybe it's because, he too was so young and full of hope for the future as my son is. Maybe it's because just thinking about my son's name ending up on this website makes my heart hurt. And that pain is something no mother should ever have to feel. I pray for his family often even though I have never met them.

It's people like you that make this country great. It's sad
that I only learned of you in death. It's good to know you
are now alive and well and reigning with King Jesus.
He will soon come back for those who are longing for
His reappearing. For believers, this is as bad as it gets! Missing you till we get to where you are!

Officer Jenks, I came across your memorial today and just wanted to say thank you for your courage and for all your fellow troopers courage who now have the watch. Sir, you paid the ultimate sacrifice that night and from the looks of all the reflections you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my brother.

Trooper Jenks,
I did not know you, but I was on duty the night you left us. Wereceived the news a couple of hours after you were gone. We stayed out most of the night. We stopped everything on I-40 that was even in the ball park of the suspects description. It really bothered me to see your picture and know that somewhere a mother, father, brother, sister, or wife was hurting. It was unfair and it was cowardly the way you were taken from us. Still, you did your job with honor, and didn't back down from a fight. You will always be a hero! We'll take it from here. God bless you and your family.

Trooper Jenks;
Time marches on for all of us save the fallen. Rest easy that there are those that both remember and honour the sacrifice that you made in service. Although a Country apart we both wear the uniform with pride and serve a common goal. You are remembered and will be remembered.

Well, Calvin, it was a year ago that I last saw you in Memphis at the NHRA races and you last words were "see ya next year". You were so happy because you were going to get married to the love of your life. I am so happy and proud that you did get to experience that. Unfortunately though the time you and Sarah spent together as husband and wife was cut short by a very unnecessary and cowardly act. Calvin, even though I know I will not "see" you this weekend, I know that you will be there in my heart and the heart of all of Memphis. I hope are you continuing to watch over Sarah, your mom, dad, brothers and sisters and that they are "adjusting" to your life in heaven and not here on earth. I will touch base with you later. Take care and God bless.

Thinking about all the lives that were lost this year. May God bless your family, friends and co-workers.
Please continue to watch over them from above.
Rest in peace.

Well today a roadway was named in your Honor. This new admin is actually doing something in our fallen Heroes Honor unlike the past admins. I even got a letter of appreciation for my fallen K-9 partner from them. Something that would never had come from the past bunch. I hope Coco is there in Heaven playing ball and swimming. Don't worry he can swim very well. He saved my life several times now I know he keeps you company. God Speed and congradulations on the remarkable memories that you have left behind here with the upmost Honor in the way you carried yourself.

I so regret not ever having the opportunity to meet or to have gotten to know Trooper Jenks. However, I have had the
priviledge to work with his Father, Norm. So many good things were said about Calvin, even before this tragedy
befell us all, and before Calvin's name was mentioned or
remembered by so many:
He was a Good Son:,
He was a Good Brother:,
He was a Good Friend:,
He was a Good Husband (Not Last, Nor Least...)
And all that I can say, is that if my Son becomes
Half the Man that Calvin was, I will be one of the
proudest Fathers on the face of this earth!
God Bless You All!

Hey Calvin. Today's was a wonderful day for all of Maury County. As you know, part of Hwy 50 that runs by Culleoka was named in your honor. I know that your family feels so priviledged that the State of Tennessee was able to do this for you. Sarah Beth looked great. She is so amazing, as is your mom and dad.
I never knew, until your accident, how many policeman are killed each year in the line of duty. I get on this site every day and my heart just breaks.
Take care and keep watch over us all here on earth until our times comes to go to our eternal home. Especially, keep a watch over Sarah and all your family as I know you are the rock that has keep them strong.
Until next time...

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Yep - I keep coming back to this website, thinking how on so many days/nights that it could have been me found by my patrol vehicle. I even sent Your story to a namesake here at LAPD.
For the past three weeks, I have been conducting Roll Call training involving various vehicle pullover scenarios. As I play the role of the violator/suspect, it still angers me, regarding Your death.
Trooper Jenks, may You Rest-In-Peace.

Trooper Jenks,
Although we never met you have been a huge inspiration for me. Five months before your horrible incident I submitted my application to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Well, tomorrow at 1 pm I begin the THP academy. I will remember you and try to make you proud every step of the way. Every time I feel like quitting I will remember you and your sacrifice. I hope we can make you proud Trooper Jenks.
