Reflections for Trooper Calvin Wayne Jenks

Everytime I come to your page I cry a little harder. You were such an amazing person & did not deserve this!! I pray that your family can pull through one more time to honor you while being in court every day for the up-coming trial. I know you had to feel all the love during the sea of blue in your honor. You touched so many lives....it's just sad that you only know how much so in your death. I say a prayer for your family daily. Please watch over them Calvin. They are going to need you now, more than ever. This trial is going to be much harder, since he is the actual trigger man. Just know you will never be forgotten!!! RIP Calvin.

Trooper Jenks,
You are remembered by people everywhere on the one year anniversary of your EOW. Your family and friends will be in my thoughts as they continue to cherish fond memories of you. You are a hero on earth and in heaven.

Hey Trooper, I cant beleive it has been a year now...I still remember it like it was yesterday; dispatch toned out the call and officers lined every exit from Memphis to here in Knoxville. You made a great sacrifice and are a true hero. Rest in peace brother; you will never be forgotten.

I have visited this site weekly for the last year and I stand amazed that you touched so many lives in your short time here on earth. I attended the memorial last night on Highway 14 and have not seen so many officers in one place in all of my life. As we drove down the highway, home owners lined the road, people got out of their vehicles and placed their hands over their heart, and volunteer fire fighters blocked the roads for the procession. What an amazing display of patriotism! I have never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I look forward to shaking your hand when I reach the the gates of heaven. I have prayed for your dear wife, Sara Beth, and all of your family, friends, and fellow officers and continue to do so. Each time my husband puts on his uniform, I am reminded that he, too, could be taken from me and our children. My husband wears his uniform with pride, and from all the research I have done, I now know that you did as well. God bless you, sir. May the Lord continue to be with your loved ones as they go through the painful process of the upcoming trial. Rest in peace. You are gone but not forgotten.

I couldn't be at your funeral last year, but I was in the "Sea of Blue" tonight in your honor. Please look after those of us who have been left behind to continue the fight.

I'm sure you're smiling today. Tipton County did a wonderful job of organizing that memorial today, and there were blue lights as far as I could see. Sarah Beth sure looked pretty too, and she seems to be doing so well. I'm sure you're so proud of her. We miss ya!!!

Calvin, your candle light vigil was very nice tonight in Columbia. I am sure you were proud as there was family, friends, strangers, fellow troopers, etc. Your family is amazing. Don't worry as your dad is going to do everything he can to see that another family does not have to go through what they have been through. Please continue to look over your sister, Bridget,as it seems she is having a very hard time. Please rest assured that you will NEVER be forgotten. I will continue to think of you each and every day and will continue to pray for your family every day. The one thing that eases my mind is the fact that one day, those guys will have a much higher power to answer to and they will not get out as easy as this time.

I will holler at cha later.

Your memory lives in the hearts and minds of all those who continue to serve.

Calvin,
It is hard to believe it has been a year ago today that you were so senselessly taken from this earth. There will be a candle light vigil tonight in your honor here in Columbia. I am sure there will be one in Memphis also. Please be with us all and especially your family on this day. You have been on my mind constantly all day as I am sure many others.

Please continue to watch over your family and embrace this with that wings that you have been provided by your heavenly father.

As the anniversary of your EOW nears, I was thinking
about you. This will be a year to put the painful past behind and move forward. One thing that helps is knowing you are with the Lord and basking in His amazing love. I know where you are is too incomprehensible for us believers left behind, but it is
sure fun trying to imagine all God has in store for us.
He alone can make all things right, turn evil into good
and heal our empty and lonely hearts. I look forward to
meeting you one day, Calvin. With love from one coast
of America to the other.

Another Young Life

Another young life
Taken away
By some senseless person
Who just didn’t care

As January 6 nears
It will be hard
For the ones who love you
And the ones who cared about you

Calvin just be near them
And hold them close
And know they will get
Through it with time

They will never forget you
The job you done
The lives you saved
And the ones you helped

Brother rest in peace
Know that your brothers and sisters
Of Law Enforcement
Are continuing what you did

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

January 1, 2008

Happy New Year Calvin. We were talking about you last night at work. One of the new guys asked me if I knew you, and I told him about the first time I met you, and how silly you were, and how proud you were of Sarah Beth. I told them about that wreck you worked a year ago today...and what an impact you made on another officer because of your swift response to his need. I told him about the day you were senselessly taken from us, and about the funeral and how many people came out to honor you. It brought tears to his eyes, and he never knew you. That's the kind of impact you leave on people, because of the person you were.

You are missed by so many left here...I don't think you would have ever imagined the amount of people you have touched. You continue to be a blessing to all of us, even nearly a year after you've been gone.

As January 6th approaches, continue to embrace your family and friends, and all of us with THP. We all miss you terribly, but know that you are in a much better place and that we will all be reunited again.

I've asked my pastor to say a special prayer for your family at services this Sunday, as I'm sure it's going to be a rough day for them.

We love you Brother...keep those streets in Heaven safe for us!

December 31, 2007

Happy New Year Calvin. This has been a very hard year for those that loved you so much. It is hard to believe it has been a year. Continue to embrace and comfort your family through this time.

Later.
