To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Bessant, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

Dan,
You were and are still a great guy. We worked together when I was an Oceanside Police Intern and you were a Community Service Officer (for the School Safety Enhancement Team at El Camino High School). Dan we worked together for almost 2 years and we both had the dream of becoming Police Officers one day. Dan, I wont forget about how we used to joke around about which Police Department was better (Palm Springs VS. Oceanside). You used to joke with me because I went to the Palomar Gollege Police Academy and not the San Diego S.O. Academy. You always won, I was out numbered. But, we both had the same dream, to become Police Officers and serve our community. It doesn't matter where you work, we are all on the same team. We are all brothers and sisters. Dan, when I found out it was you that payed the ultimate sacrafice, I cried. I was at work, on duty, and I cried. Dan, this is because I know you personally and I know exactly how similar you and I are. Dan, just 2 months ago I bumped into you at Chili's, we were both having lunch. We still joked about Palm Springs VS. Oceanside Police and the memorial (tin looking) badge that you had to wear for a year. At least I can still smile when I think about that, even though I haven't been myself since I heard about your tragic ending. Dany, I am going to miss you my brother and I want you to know that I will be thinking about you and Tony Zepetella every day when I go to work and every night when I go to bed. Dan you are a HERO and you and your family will always be in my heart, thoughts, and prayers.
Dan I will ALWAYS be your brother in Law Enforcement and you will ALWAYS be mine!
Be with GOD.

I see the countless Christmas trees
around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,
reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you,
the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away,
We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory
of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious
than pure gold.
It was always most important
in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love
he has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas and
wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
