To Trooper Leonard's Family , Friends and loved ones,
I have a sincere feeling in my heart tonight as I sit here and read the reflections left by fellow troopers and colleagues as well as the common man / woman, indeed it is a tragedy that Trooper Leonard lost his life at such a young age and in the begining of what would have surely been a highly decorated career. It simply leaves us with a empty thought in our heads of "why".......I for one know that there is far worse fates on this earth and beyond than death, perhaps Trooper Leonard was spared a fate worse than death, we shall never know, I do know that I work hand in hand with some of the finest men and woman I know and they are Troopers, not the "Grey Gods" but fellow human beings,men , women, friends, brothers, fathers, sisters, and mothers, we are all in this together, and we all bleed red, I cannot say anything that can comfort you in your time of loss, I wish I could, however I can tell you that Jon is in a better place and we all shall be reunited one day! 502

It is hard to make sense of the senseless. Especially when one dies for the sake of others. My prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends of John. They say the big man upstairs saves us a seat when we finish our work here. And I am sure John has a seat right next to him. While your up there with the others who have given the ultimate sacrifice, be sure to look down and watch the backs of us still fighting the fight. God bless you John.

The Policeman's Last Roll Call....

The Policeman stood and faced his god, which must always come to pass. He
hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass. "Step foward
now Policeman. How shall I deal with you ? Have you always turned the other
cheek? To my church have you been true ?"

The Policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I haven't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to
work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been
violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that
wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just
got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with
fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I
don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around anyways,
except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so
grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As
the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward
now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."

---Rest Easy John, We have the watch now....

Tpr. Leonard was what others did not want to be..... He went were others feared to go, risk and danger was his constant companion. He has seen the face of terror, felt the sting of cold fear and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love. He has helped people in times of stress and subdued others in times of trouble. He cried, loved and hoped, but most of all he honored his committment to serve and protect for which he has paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of service above self. HE IS AND FOREVER WILL BE A KENTUCKY STATE TROOPER.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard I did not have the pleasure of working with your son, but I know that you and your family are just as proud of him as you ever were before. I am deeply sorry for your families loss. Jonathan will never be forgotten. The Lord above has called him home to his mansion in heaven. Jonathan is with out a doubt in heaven with our 23 other fallen brothers.

In Valor there is Hope.

Policeman's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

I will be strong and courageous, I will not be terrified, or discouraged; for the lord my God is with me wherever I go. “Joshua 1:9”
The Lord asked, Police Officer, what do you ask of me? Lord, give me courage and give me strength. Give my fellow brothers the courage to do what is right, the wisdom to discover it and the will to enforce it. I ask you to look over those I have served. Those I have spent my life defending. The Lord stated “Those who live in the service of others will live forever.”
Always remember legendary acts may be forgotten but HEROES.......... LIVE.......... FOREVER.”
