Reflections for Officer Dwayne N. Freeto

I've always related officers to Jesus. A carpenter; one who built not only with His hands but with His acts, deeds, and most importantly His word. Dwayne, I will remember you as a man of God. You were a man that was always dependable, honest, genuinely caring, and certainly a carpenter.

You have touched so many lives and will be so missed, but NEVER FORGOTTEN!

You weren't with us very long Dwayne, but as you can see it doesn't matter how long you've worn the badge you are one of us. All over the world we are brothers and sisters on duty and off, active or retired. I'm honored to say that you were my brother, even though we never met. Rest assured that we will honor you and your family and they will always have an extended family, the Thin Blue Line.
May you rest in peace.

I knew Officer Freeto and he was a good man. It saddens me so much to think that such an honorable person is no longer with us. Thank you Dwayne for everything you have done for your family, community and country. You will not be forgotten and I will always hold you in the highest regard. To Karen, I know this is a really hard time for you and your girls. Please take care and know that Dwayne was a shining example of what more men should be and the three of you should be very proud that he was such a big part in all of your lives. God bless.

-Who are we?
-What do we wear?
-How do we wear it?

I know you’re hollering back the answers, even though I can’t hear you right now. I know you’re sounding off, because when it comes to the answers to those three questions, you talked them, walked them and ultimately left with them. But, I’m not going to worry about being able to hear you today, because I know that when the rest of 113 and I get up there with you, we’ll get together and sing it out so loud that we’ll shake the heavens of heaven.
Thank you for your selfless service.

Dwayne, I am sorry that our time working together was so short. I am glad to have had the privilege of working with such a fine, young officer. I will always remember you walking into the office while I was attempting to locate officers for minimum staffing. All you did was grin and say "Sarge, I'm here."

Keep an eye on your brothers and sisters as you go about your new beat on heaven's streets. My condolences to the entire Freeto Family.

Iwould like to say im deeply sorry for your loss my thoughts are with you at this time, whilst reading this i felt saddened, that from what i"ve read a excellent officer who would help anyone was taken by doing just that helping someone with the a simple task people do everyday.we dont have alot of the problems here that american officers have to deal with i have alot of respect and admiration for all of them.again my thoughts are with this officers family and anyone who may have lost loved ones through sensless acts.

The Policeman's Last Roll Call.....

THE POLICEMAN'S LAST ROLL CALL ...

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE
HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD
NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER
CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to
work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been
violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that
wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just
got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with
fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I
don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around
except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so
grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As
the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward
now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."

Orleans Parish Sheriff Office
