Dwyane,

I think about you every day brother before I punch 10-8. I think of more and more memories each day that we had in the academy and when we worked together on East side. I just can't put into words how much you are missed. You are my hero brother and I know you'll be watching over all of us in blue as we answer calls for service. We love you Dwayne.

Dwayne,
Its been 11 days. I still get chills when I think about you being gone. When I wake up, I hope that this time, it will be from the nightmare, and that you will still be with us. I know its real, but I wish it wasn't. Sometimes, it just doesn't seem real, and other times, its too real. I saw you on Friday night. I'm so glad I did. I promise you we will do anything that Karen needs. She does not deserve to be alone and we will not let you down. Thank you for being our brother, for what short time we had you. You are sorely missed already.

In July I lost my best friend Dennis Stepnowski, an Atlanta SWAT officer in the line of duty. Fortunately I found out in time to attend his funeral ceremony which was very difficult but allowed my wife and I to say goodbye. As a citizen of Ft. Worth we were saddened while watching the news and discovering the loss of Officer Freeto. Our prayers go out to the Freeto family and the Ft. Worth police department. We are gracious for what time Officer Freeto did serve and for all of law enforcement, most citizens will never appreciate what you do for us on a daily basis.

Look down Dwayne. Look down and see a city united. Look down and see what your life meant to this community. See what it meant to the department that you served. You are loved by so many. While it is a loss that we feel, it also brings rejuvenation. It brings us closer together. Our hearts ache. We will think of you often. For those of us that never had the privilege of knowing you, it is an overwhelming loss.

I'm sad for those who didn't have a chance to know you...They have really missed out! I am priviledged to have seen that smile light up a room. I cannot count the times I was in a ho-hum mood at work and saw that smile...I couldn't help but to smile back. Freeto, you are missed more than I can say! I give thanks to have had the opportunity to know you and work with you and to call you friend! We will NEVER forget! I will Never forget! Thank you for your service, your friendship and for touching our lives. You showed us what it is to be an extra-ordinary human being.

God rest your Soul, Officer Freeto. Although I did not know you personally, you are my brother. You made the ultimate sacrifice; I was injured in the line of duty and forced to retire, leaving officers such as you to carry on. Although physically taxing on me due to my physical condition, the Lord carried me through on 21 Dec, 2006 to salute you, one of Fort Worth's finest. You may be gone from our ranks, but you will never be forgotten. May God Bless and protect Karen, Jordin, Jenna and all your extended family and friends, too many to name, including us, your brothers and sisters in blue. Thank you, Dwayne. Your task here is done and your shift complete; may you Rest in Peace with our Lord and Saviour. Amen.
