I knew Mike for just a short time before his passing, but he was very helpful to me and immediately earned my respect. It was not until I recently covered the story of his passing that I realized the full spectrum of what a great man he really was. In meeting and talking with folks whose lives he has touched, I discovered that he was truly an extraordinary person who coveted traits of virtue that seem to be all too rare in this day and age. My deepest condolences to his family and friends during this trying time. He will always be remembered and honored in Bryan County for his achievements as a soldier, a lawman, and a family man.

Sometimes you get the bad guy and sometimes he
gets you.
Your accident didn't just kill you, it also killed a part of us.
It killed a part of your family, both at work and at home.
It killed your dreams, your hopes, your future.
But it must not kill our determination to make this
world a better place or our will to make a difference.
Thank your for your service. Time will not diminish
your sacrifice.

To Lisa and family of Mike,
I had the pleasure of working with Mike for several years while he was a Detective with the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office. This community is truly a better place because of him and I am proud to have served alongside him.
The sacrifice your family has made to this community will never be forgotten and I am truly humbled by Mike’s valor, courage, and dedication to the job and his family.
The loss you and your family have suffered is irreplaceable and immeasurable.
I wish to thank you and your family for sharing a husband, father and fellow peace officer with us.
May Mike Rest in Peace
