Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Jason Lannes Sheppard

Hey Sgt. Sheppard, I wanted to stop by and thank your Dad for leaving a message on my son site. James I just wanted to say that it does help to to talk with other families of Officers killed in the line of duty. I remember coming home after our son was killed, and telling my husband that no one could help me but the people who had gone through the same kind of trauma. But little did I know that talking with other survivors old or new ones would help me also...
Sgt. Sheppard your family misses you everyday of every minute, watch over them and send a message from Heaven from time to time to let them know you are close. And look Clint up, and let him know how much we miss him...

Jason,
Our Mustang herd is growing by leaps and bounds this year, 9 new ones so far and 4 more to go. We have 3 new palamino's, 2 colts and 1 filly and both colts have blue eyes. The first one ended up getting cut on his right back leg and the vet said he would need to be put down, but you know how stubborn your dad is, I told him we may end up having to put him down, but not until we tried everything possible to nurse him back to health. Well it's been three weeks and an couple of thousand, but he is mending very nicely. By the way his name is "Stitches". Danny is taking good care of Shadow and Pistol for you. Well enough of this I just know how much you loved the horses and thought I'd share a little of the story with you and all who visit your site.

Mr.Sheppard, I wish to thank you for your kind and sincere words you left on my husbands memorial page. It has been 6 years since I lost the love of life and it is still so difficult for me. May God bless you and your family and be with you all and know that Jason is with you all in your memories...nothing can ever take those away. God Bless You.

Jason,
I tried writing something earlier today but couldn't put my thoughts in order. We all miss you. I mistakenly downloaded your cd to my computer untitled,(A big Mistake)
as everytime I start looking for another song I run across
it. I still haven't gotten through the whole playlist. I think about the time you recorded in my studio in 1999, such a waste of good talent. As we all know, you touched so many lives and hearts. It has taken me two years to say
what I really feel, I loved you as my own, and I know that
someday we will all be together again as a whole family. Keep watch over us all as only you can until that day comes
Love,
Travis

We police survivors share a huge bond. We miss you all so very much. The holidays can be difficult if you are alone. But if we reach out, we have each other - people who understand our sorrow as well as share the pride in you - one of our fallen heros. Know that your family is surrounded by other police survivors - to give them comfort and strength during these difficult times.
With love for you and your family,

Jason, It's been two years now and we still miss you. We miss your warm smile, your jokes, I miss our father & son talks, we miss you singing to us even though we all do have a copy of the CD you were working on for our christmas presents, but it just isn't the same as you standing there cutting up and entertaining while you were singing. I wanted to trade places with you that night, but it just wasn't possible. I'm sure you have met everyone that I am meeting each day as I visit the site and leave a reflection in their honor. I feel the pain of all their loved ones in the things they say on their reflections, as I too know that pain. Until we meet again!

I just left Jason's site and was looking at the site of a deputy from a neighboring
county who died several month ago. There was a condolence left by Jason's Dad. Thank you, Mr. Sheppard for your kind words. The miles can't separate us!

I have never visited this site before, but after reading all these reflections of the ones who knew him best, I can tell that he is dearly missed by his family, friends and co-workers. It's easy to see that Jason loved the Lord and His light shined brightly thru him. He was obviously a blessing to all who knew him and to know him was to love him!
Sgt. Sheppard served proudly and it is a tragedy to lose him. We never know when our lives on this earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ.
You were a credit to the uniform, Jason. My heart goes out to your
loved ones left behind and may the Lord comfort them as only He can. I look
forward to meeting you one fine day in the near future. Thanks for your service, Sgt. Sheppard. Well done!

Thinking of you and all of your loved ones during this holiday season. I know every day is a challenge for them to get through, even more so during this time of the year. I have decorated the outside of my home in all blue lights and one of those lights is burning brightly in your honor. You have not been forgotten.

It will be 2 years this Sunday since God took Jason back. I will always be greatful for the years He allowed us to Love and have him in ours lives here on earth and I look forward to the day I will see him again. We are so blessed to have recordings of some of the songs he loved to sing,
when I listen to them now it is almost like he knew just because of the songs he choose. Like I Can Only Imagine, Word Of God Speak ( he said this one the most ausume songs) and he had recorded a CD. Just a few weeks before the accident and the first song on the CD was If Heaven. I know there is a phrase in the song,I'm not afraid to die, that gives me great comfort. There is also one about God needing another angel. There is one he sung in church alot called Thank you. It talks about going to heaven and seeing people that helped to guide you in the right directions in life and thanking them for giving their time to to the Lord and teaching others about God.
Jason liked to be tough (acting) but the he was a sweet and sentimental person. He loved to make you laugh and play jokes on you. I can not count the number of times he got me. I miss that alot. I am glad I still have My Danny, because he loves a good joke too and they would always try to out do each other. I remember our last Thanksgiving at his house. Their cousin from out of town was there and they kept him laughing. I can still hear the laughter, it's times like that I will never forget. I would like to thank everyone for all of there kind reflecions. I view this page often and Love to read the stories and thoughts you leave. Thank You for you continued prayers also. God Bless you all. He will live in our hearts forever.....

Jason... I did not know you but your dad was kind enough to take the time to come leave a reflection about someone I care about (Matthew Pavelka E.O.W. 11-15-03) and so I decided to come read about who his son was.

I can tell just by your photo that you must have been a great man, fun & outgoing. Your smile tells of someone with a great sense of humor, caring and who has many friends & family he loves dearly. I'm sure they all miss you terribly & my heart goes out to them. I will especially be thinking about them all on your EOW date as I see it draws near.

God be with you & thank you for your service.

I wanted to stop at your page and leave a reflection to let you know that you are a true hero and hereos never die. I know the daily struggle your loved ones face every day, especially your Dad as I walk in his shoes. I know he would trade places with you as I would for my son, in a heartbeat so that you both could be here to live out your lives with your loved ones. Now all we can do is take one day at a time and keep your memory alive. Wrap your wings around all of your loved ones and protect them from harm. You have not been forgotten.

Today is the second worst day of the year for missing you! You would have been 31 today and it seems like only yesterday that you were born and only a blink since you left us. I'll keep leaving you reflections until I come to be with you.

SAINT MICHAEL'S BOYS

Not long ago, the struggle between Good and Evil erupted, again, into war. The Devil threw his forces against the very Gates of Heaven, themselves. His attack beaten back, he withdrew and called for a meeting with God.

And Satan began.....

Who were those men who stood their ground,
When they were just some thousand few?
And when Gabrielle's Army is clad in gold,
Why did they all wear blue?

"They were out-numbered ten-to-one
And should have run like new-born foals,
But when they showed no fear I realized
That you'd used men who have no souls,

"And there, at last, I have you,
Through all your boasts you've lied,
So no more claims of righteousness
And behind no more Commandments hide,

"You've cheated and you've robbed me,
Those men, they are my proof,
The soul-less can't be yours in Heaven,
But mine in Hell, beneath my roof."

God listened, then replied....

"My poor, misguided child
Can't you see the error of your ways?
Those men just stood against you, now,
As they did in mortal days,

"I knew they wouldn't turn and run,
For they've seen your worst before,
And that is why I placed them there,
To keep safe and gaurd my door."

"As for those battered coats of blue,
They're worn with such fierce pride
That if I ordered them to change,
Then even I might be defied,

"Ye, you believe they have no souls,
When their souls are why they're here,
For in life each took an oath they kept
Although the price was steep, and dear,

"Even tempted by the face of death
Their hearts did cowardice decline,
You see, they never could be yours,
As they were then, and always, mine,

"And it's strange that you don't know them,
Since you've sent me every one,
Each time your murderers and theives
Killed a policeman's father's son,

"With tear-stained eyes I greet them all,
Cut too soon from their families' joys,
So send me all your soldiers of Hell...
And they'll meet Saint Michael's boys."

See you in Heaven Sgt. Sheppard

Jason,
It will soon be the hour only a year later that I held you hand as you left us and went to be with your Father in heaven. Knowing that and knowing how we both felt about the cituation we faced was my only strength in making the decision to let you go. It's been a year now but, it's not getting any easier, and as stated in the reflections from your friends we all miss you deeply and for me I am looking forward to seeing you again whether it's soon or a long time in coming. Keep watch over all of us an may you continue being an inspiration to all if only through the things said about you here and every where we gather. I listen to your music to and from work every day as we travel together. Until we meet again my son!

Today I still morn for you. I want you to know that I am glad I was there with you and was able to hold your hand and comfort you. That is the only peace I have is knowing someone who cared for you and liked you so much was there. There is not a day I don't think back to that night and wish I could have changed the circumstances but, I know from what I learned about you and your faith that the Lord had already prepared a place for you and he needed you to come and fill it. You are missed by many people and we will all remember you and Shelly today and always in our prayers and thoughts. Watch over us and keep us safe until we meet again.

Jason,
It has been a year scince you were taken from us. I still and will forever think about you every day. Yesterday I went and visited your Mom, we sat at the kitchen table and shared our precious memories of you. You were like a Brother to me, my children called you Uncle Jason and would greet you with open arms. Jason, you are a Hero not because of your service to Aiken County, but because of the way you lived your life with though of others before yourself. Jason,
This will be my second reflection. This will be a day of reflection on the anniversity of your passing around the office and in our hearts. I did not know that this day would have impacted me so greatly. I draw my daily strength from looking at your memorial outside of the Sheriff's private office. You have been missed greatly by myself and other within the office and will continued to be missed. Thank you for the life and example that you have lived and the strenght that you continue to provide to everyone.
