Officer Jordan and family, thank you for your ultimate sacrifice. I've been reading the reflections and I'm proud to say that they touched me so deeply, I'm crying right now and I don't even know you. Thank you for your service to Colorado Springs. As I read your reflections, tears stroll down my checks. You sound like such a sweet, kind and gentle person. It is such a shame when the bad guys are left standing and the heros are called up to heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with the CSPD and Officer Jordans family. RIP hero!!!!!

Ken,

You got stuck with me in training when Clay was sick. I'd been on three weeks. When we started chasing that stolen car you said "speed up dude, he's trying to get away...." Dope, gun, two code 5's, and a stolen vehicle...you walked me through the whole thing --

After Nate and I's deal in '03, you stayed with Angie for six hours.......SIX HOURS BRO.....because she was a cop's wife. After the fact, I told you thanks, and you said "don't worry about it, thats what we do."

THANKS AGAIN.

Ken,

I can't believe that we will never talk again. It was just last week that we were talking about you and Heidi and Christina and I going out. That conversation was so...normal, had I only known, Ken. That was the last time we spoke.

I will never forget exactly where I was when I heard on the radio that an officer was down. An ambulance had been dispatched, it wasn't mine, I feel like I let you down. Kari was your Paramedic, she did everything she could possible do for you. You were in good and loving hands then, you should know that. You didn't die alone Ken, we were there with you.

I would have been the second ambulance to the scene, I would have had to transport the person who shot you....I couldn't have done that. God intervened and I ended up on another call. I remember being so angry that I wasn't going on your call, at that point I didn't know it was you. I was transporting a patient to Memorial when Justin told me that it was you that had been shot. I don't even remember what happened after that.

Ken, I miss you already. I'm devastated. I know you would tell me that I was being a "Sally"! Please know that we will be standing with you. Christina and I promise you that we will help take care of Heidi. I will NEVER forget you Ken...Never.

You were one of my original "Creek Boys". Ya'll sure made my job fun. It's a comfort to know that somewhere Barb, Kathy, Walt, and Jared will greet you with open arms and will look out for you. Rest in peace. Your sacrifice is honored and not in vain. If nothing else your sacrifice will be a reminder to the public that all officers, regardless of agency, are out there everyday protecting their lives so that they can have safe and happy lives. It will also be a reminder to other officers that there are no routine traffic stops.
You and your family will be in our prayers.

Knowing what its lke to be apart of a law enforcement family both in work and immediate family, I can't even fathum the loss that everyone who knew you is experiencing. As a former dispatcher I can say that I am sorrowful for your family & co-workers b/c being in law enforcement everyone you work with is your family. I do understand that you must love your job to lay your life on the line everyday. And for that I am grateful to you for making the ultimate sacrifice. God Speed & Thank you! You will be remembered.

Ken, We did not know each other personally but saw one and other in passing on the road, at CJC, at Memo...I am very sorry to lose another brother and my heart goes out to your family, friends and your law enforcement family. You made the ultimate sacrifice protecting this community and it will not be forgotten. May you rest in peace as you join others from our family. I pray for peace and comfort for your family and your friends.

The Badge
It is polished and shiny and looks so fine.
Once you earn it you have to tow the line.
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.
It means honesty, integrity, and fairness to all.
Your life is never your own, but at the publics call.
Night or day, any hour, it makes you a mark.
It doesn't protect you from a shot in the dark.
Over the years the shine starts to fade,
but brighter still is the person its made.
It is often what separates you from the crowd.
It is a second family of which you are proud.
So now comes your time, you can't be denied.
When you pin on your badge, wear it with pride
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.

We may work for different agencies and wear a different uniform, but we are all still family, and it hurts.

To Officer Jordan's family and loved ones, there are no words. Saying I am sorry just doesn't seem to be enough.

We will all be there Monday to show our love and respect for Officer Jordan, and to show our support to our brother's and sister's of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

May you rest in peace, Ken.

Looking over the reflections left by the people that knew Ofc. Jordan, makes me wish I knew him personally. He appeared to be a bigger than life, fun loving, family devoted, caring, kind person. The list, I'm sure, goes on and on.
I took my children to the make-shift memorial, as I did for Jared. My six year-old, still not fully understanding death, said, "How sad, mommy." How right he was.
My family wishes to express our deepest sympathies to Ofc. Jarods personal family, law enforcement family and all the people that knew him personally. May God comfort and keep you during your time of sorrow.
Ofc. Jarod, thank you for all you did for our community. Rest in peace!

Ken,

I barely know where to start. I met you in high school and we stayed friends through college (where we attended together) until you moved to Colorado. We haven't talked much since then, but through our memories I still consider you a dear friend. I can't even count the memories playing pool, mountain biking, sparring in your dorm room, nights out on the town at WIU, days at the pistol range, evenings at Dave and Busters, and God only knows what else.

My life was richer for having known you, as were the lives of anyone you knew. Your love for your family, your friends, and for life was evident in everything you did. Your positive outlook set the bar high for how life should truly be lived.

To know that you're gone from this world is to know what grief truly is. Yours was a bright light dimmed far too early. I thank you, as do all of your friends, for your zealous regard for life and friendship. I thank you, as do all law enforcement professionals, for your tireless service and sacrifice to your community.

Thank you, Ken. God bless you and keep you well on heaven's beat. Shoot a rapid or two for me, Kenny...until we meet again.

KJ,

It seems only fitting that the “twins” write this together, so here goes:

A couple of days have passed, and still we are completely confused about why everything happened the way it did. Just a few minutes before the call, you were standing next to us in your short sleeve uniform in below freezing weather. All we could think about (like every night we saw you) was how crazy you were.

You laughed at how lazy J.P. was, titling his traffic violation on the summons “License” instead of “License for Drivers Required”. We remember your laughter and the smile on your face each and every day. Your work ethic was untouchable, and your heart was twice the size of most.

Most times we would find any reason to delay the paperwork and follow you to the hospital, in hopes that Heidi might be there! You would yell at Ted, cuz she always brought him a coffee and left you high and dry. Meanwhile, J.P. was hiding in the corner, trying to devise a plan, in hopes of winning a trip to Fiji over you. We both knew you and Heidi were destined for each other. It was so easy to see the love in your heart for her, and Heidi’s love in you. Every time we left, we thought of how perfect you are together!

The two of you hold a special place in our hearts. God needs you with him now, and we know you have earned it! Your family is in great hands and Sand Creek is well covered. We are honored to have served with you. We will always remember your last arrest, standing side by side with the Bobbsey Twins.

Ken,

What can I say? We have both spent our entire time at the creek and love it. Losing a person like you is not something that I know how to deal with, but remembering the way you loved the job is where I will start. I will try to live up to your example.

Rest in peace brother and know you are missed...

Thank you!
