Miss you, wish you were here.

It's been 10 months and October is here. This was always your favorite time of the year as you prepared for the upcoming season. Your enthusiasm was like a child waiting for Christmas morning. I miss those calls.
Be there with them as they muster the strength to keep up the tradition.

And if you could send a 12+ pointer their way, I doubt you'll hear much complaining.

Love ya

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Ken,
It breaks my heart to see the pain and sadness that consumes your brothers and sisters. Our department is NOT the same since you and Jared left and we desperately need revived. Look down on them all, give them peace and comfort as they face each moment without you. Let them know you're there, help them feel your presence and be renewed in their determination, perseverance, and the fight for life that we each face every day, especially as they are guarding the life of our city. Give them comfort, give them strength...help heal their broken spirits. We are not the same without you.

What a week!!

I know you've nagged me for years to do it and I finally am going to. Seems kinda silly to do it now but better late than never, right? I finally understand what you've been trying to tell me.

Steve's wedding was perfect except for the fact that you weren't standing there beside him. He was a trooper without you and looked so happy up there with Staci. I know you'll watch over the two of them.

Mom, dad, and I had a chance to see all your birthday "presents" that your friends left for you last week and the Medal of Valor luncheon was quite an honor. I hope you would have been proud. It's comforting to know that your memory lives on, strong as ever.

I miss you!!

Love ya

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. We sure do miss you.

Jordan!

Happy “late” Birthday! NO! I did not forget! I was in Hawaii and had no internet access. I was thinking about you and wished a private happy birthday wish to you!
Hawaii was a blast! The diving was beautiful! I wish you could have been there with us. You know what? We never did get to go on the diving trip we always talked about. I really wish we had, but I would have drove you nuts because I would have insisted on you diving with a buddy nearby (you know what I am talking about!). We went diving and swam with the Mantas! They were HUGE! During a night dive we watched about 11 VERY LARGE Mantas swim all around us. One even bumped me in the head and about knocked me over. You would have loved it! It was incredible!

I miss you terribly. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you.

Happy Birthday!! I was thinking about the balloon ride I bought for your birthday that one year so long ago. Still haven't been up in a balloon yet. Maybe one day! And I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist the Winnie the Pooh balloon. :)

Hey brother, Happy Birthday. I know it has been a while since I wrote but I still visit this site everyday. You probably see as you look down on us all that I have left the team. It was time to move on and do something different. Since you left us the job was not the same and our office was sooo empty. I am now doing something I enjoy just like I enjoyed my last assignment until you were taken away. Even though I cannot see you or talk to you anymore you are still my mentor and inspiration to always do my best. Keep watching out for us. Miss you much.
