Aloha Braddah Steve,
We've never met but we hold and stand for the same values we believe in. Service to our respective departments, our families and our faith in God. In reading about you and your service we have also had a fallen deputy named Steven Cox who was fatally wounded. His service is a carbon copy of yours and will also be hard to duplicate. I pray that we who hold and stand the "blue line" will continue to serve faithfully in our duties as peace officers. "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God".

Steve I still feel like I am in a dream and I will wake up and see you, Barb and the kids walking to kempo class. You were a dedicated person to Barb, the kids and everything that you loved. We will all miss the good times that we shared and you will live in our memories. May God be with Barbara, Keahi, Kiana, Matthew and Jacob as they face the future with out you. Please watch over them from above and keep them safe. Until we meet again....

my husband and i are saddened by the loss of a fellow officer. we shed tears and we pray for u and your family. i would like to take the time to share some things about steve and when he walks into the communications division.
it would be early in the morning around... 0530 or so and we would hear this little buzzer at the door that tells us that someone is trying to enter our division and in walks steve, carrying the daily solobike roster. every morning he would walk down to every radio position and give us a roster. he would always have this smile and say good morning and sometimes talk story with us.
i will always remember that simple task he took every morning to dispatch and how much he and the other solobike officers mean to us at the communications division.
u will always be in our hearts and we will miss u.

Everyday I wish I wake up and realize that Steve's passing is just a dream. I just spoke to him the night before that day of the crash. Steve saw me on the side of the road blocking off traffic, called me on the cell phone and jokingly said "You're looking TACTICAL there." We spoke and joked around for a few seconds, and that was the last I ever spoke to my dear friend, who I considered a brother.
Steve, it's hard for me to believe that you're no longer going to be with us. I think of the days we drilled together at the unit. I remember every morning we ate at the galley. You always ordered three eggs over easy with rice. You put shoyu sauce and ketchup over everything and mixed it all. You are one of the strongest guys and fastest runners I know. I know by the way you speak to Barbara and your children on the phone that you were an awesome husband and father. Your dedication to HPD, the Coast Guard, and your martial arts is inspirational. I miss you brother, I will always remember you and the good times we had. God Bless you and your family.

FRIENDSHIP
Friendship should never be forgotten
As we meet new friends, we begin to cultivate.
I believe that every friend we have,
are a precious keep-sake treasured.
Rather the road we walk is old and worn,
with many cherished memories shared.
Or perhaps someone new entered our life,
can you feel how much we truly care?
Our Hearts are deeply touch and fly without wings,
gathered in a peaceful place called Heaven, threaded with love.
These gracious gifts of friendship, which we receive,
a grander theme planned from above.
Soft gentle breezes, soft warm sunshine touches your face,
We know you are by our side smiling and protecting us from the evils
When the past year simply fades away,
Another year glides in to fill its empty space.
Time journey's on carrying dreams of hope, peace
and the blessings felt in friendship's sacred place.
Love and Aloha from your friends and Beat Partners.

All mighty god, grant peace to the Favela family. Steve was a very good officer and friend and will be missed. Steve was their when you needed him; I have worked with Steve in District 5, Sector 3 before he went to sector 4. He made me welcome as a motorman, and we shared some good times. He did his best in his job and always talked about his wife and children. He always said "Family First". that day I went to my church and spoke to Father Terry and asked him to say a prayer to watch over Steve . I heard by one supervisor he had passed away. I shed a tear and pray again to my friend Ryan Goto a solo biker who passed away in 07-03 to watch over Steve and together they could ride in heaven. To my friends and co-workers life is to short, live life to the fullest. In the name of the father, son and holy ghost I pray to protect all law enforcement officers who dedicate their lives in this job Amen..

Dear Family, Friends, and Co-Workers of Officer Steve Favela,
We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of your loved one. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support during this very difficult time. We wish we could be there in person to offer support. We know that sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. As the holidays draw nearer remember those special moments you have shared together and the love you shared. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement for support. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten. Officer Favela is a hero. He will live on through all of you forever.

THE BROKEN CHAIN
We little knew that morning, that God
Was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same,
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone;
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home,
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide;
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
I pray this poem gives some confort and strength to the family and friends of Officer Favela as it did for me on the passing of my family member. T. Gentry.

Officer Steve Favela,
I would have liked to have met you. You exemplify all the core values that our Founder, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop instills in her gift of education to children of Hawaiian ancestry. Below are the core values we live by:
'Ime 'Ike - to seek knowledge
Laulima - to work cooperatively
Lokomaika'i - to share
Na'au Pono - to possess a deep sense of justice
Malama - to care for each other
Pono - to be moral and proper
I will remember that you served as a Honolulu Police Officer with duty, honor, and respect. But most of all, I will always remember that you were a great father first.
God Bless You Sir,

Officer Favela job well done. Now rest with our brothers and sisters in the streets of gold. Although we have never met I fill a connection with HPD as my cousin, Officer Patrick Maher EOW 8-2-03 was member of your fine agency prior to joining the Federal Way Police Dept, Wash. So I can only imagine Pat grining at you when you arrived at the Gates of Heaven. Rest in peace.
To Officer Favela's family and HPD family, you have my prayers and condolenses. May God comfort you all and hold you in his strong embrace of love.

I first met Steve three years ago when we both reported to duty for our Coast Guard reserve unit. Steve was respected and admired by so many people who came into contact with him. He was one of the most physically fit members in our unit. As Steve and I got to know each other, we were surprised how our lives were so similar. I was a reservist whose civilian job was being a cop, we both had a “different” sense of humor, and whose significant other was a registered nurse at the same hospital. I remember he would always talk about his wife and kids, and how lucky he was. It was funny how his voice would change on the phone whenever he was talking to one of his kids. He loved them so much.
I remember when we went to North & South Carolina for three weeks in 2004 for the unit. I forgot my cell phone at the airport in Honolulu. When Steve found out, and without any hesitation, he allowed me to use his phone every night so I could say good night to my then fiancé. When he found out that I was getting married, he offered his advise and suggestions and talked about his wedding, and how that much money was blown in such a short amount of time.
I also remember talking to him on the phone the night before the accident. He found out that I was working the Presidential detail and wanted to know where I was. We joked about the whole thing, but unfortunately we never got to see each other that night. This, I'll always regret.
I hold on to the belief that Steve will find peace and happiness in a better world. Steve will always be in our heart and memory forever.
We will always cherish and remember Steve, as he was ... a friend who would do anything for his family.

I first met Steve while at Roosevelt High. He was a very nice person and always seemed to be happy with that smile on his face. He was an awesome football player. I remember prior to starting the police academy Steve had called me and said, don't buy anything yet, I'll take you to the military base cause its cheaper. I then got the chance to work with Steve in Kalihi/D-5 for about 4 years. Steve was a very hard and dedicated worker. I want to thank Steve for being such a good friend and I'm glad I had the chance to meet such a great person. I still can't believe I'm writing on this site and it is very hard seeing your photo posted. Bradda Steve you gave the ultimate sacrifice and we all know you will be in heaven watching over us. To the Favela family, Barb and the children my deep condolences and may you support each other during this hard time.
Steve will be missed by everyone but he will never be forgotten and his memories will last forever!
Rest in Peace bradda Steve...
