Reflections for Officer Steve Bastidas Favela
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am very sorry for your loss and empathize with you because I lost my father-in-law on the same day in January of 2005 in a vehicle accident. Officer Favela was an officer when I was in Honolulu on vacation and feel I was protected by him. He is a hero among too many who have been lost and I feel your pain. I hope you have a good support system through this difficult time. I have thought about you all daily and will continue to pray for you. God bless and thank you Officer Favela for your great sacrifice.

On this sad day we stand together in thought and prayer for our lost brother. Our condolences go out to Steve Favela's wife, Barbara; their four children; their families; and their friends.
While we mourn and miss Steve, we will never forget his dedication to HPD and the honorable way in which he represented all of us.
Not only we are saddened by our loss but the whole community is deeply affected.
Let us all be thankful that Steve was a part of our lives -- if only for a short time. He will never be forgotten.

Well, another gardian gives his life doing his job. You can't be taught to be a P.O., you were born to be one and now pass on as one escorting the leader of the free world. Everyone will remember that you will always be a P.O.. You were picked to protect the President, and you did, know matter what the conditions. Be proud!!! REST IN PEACE!!!!! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ON THE JOB, WATCHING OVER YOUR FAMILY AND FELLOW OFFICERS!!!!

SIR,
You have not died in vane. Your shift is not over yet. Their is still one more thing for you to do. I am so tired of writing this response. To many of our brothers and sisters are dying unnecesarily. However we will continue to go forward. Finishing what you have started. Like Det. Hill and so many others who have gone before you. One day (hopefully in the very distant future) their will be an Officer/Deputy who is alone and in pain. They will be looking for someone to comfort them and show them the way home. That is when you will be called upon to finish out your shift. Rest now brother, we have it from here.
