Corporal Wright, we can never know when, where or how we’ll leave this life and it always seems like when it does happen, it happens at the worst time. For your family and friends, there is not good time and I can see by the many reflections left just how much they will all miss you. You are obviously one hell of a guy. It’s also apparent that you will forever be with them in spirit and in their hearts and minds.

God Bless and may you Rest in Peace, Brother.

dennis and i went to armstrong together. he was the same then , a barrel of laughs and really cool guy. i had the pleasure of backing him up and having him back me up when i was at garden city and he was at pooler. he was a good friend, a fine cop and an outstanding person. the funny thing is his humor still comes to me when i remember him. crying over dennis does not last long for me becuase his antics i remember make me laugh all over again. he will be missed everyone.

Dennis, (aka Flav,Camoflauge)
It was a great pleasure to have worked with you when you were on C- Watch. We may have not been as close as you were with the others, but I had a GREAT DEAL of RESPECT for you and thought of you as a friend. I still find myself sitting and thinking about all the fun and games we had at shift change and remember just how much fun it was to have you there. You were a great friend in my book and will never be forgotten. Also my prayers go out to you and your family, as I know what it feels like when someone loses a father. Rest well and keep us all safe. Thanks for everything you were a wonderful person. Mike Melton
Dennis,
I will always look back at you as one of a kind. Your wit and sharp tongue always kept me going while dispatching. I understood your concern about being checked on while on a call, for I am married to a deputy and have insight. I always tried to check and keep up with you (WHAT A JOB!!!) I now know that you are truly "CODE 4". Our shift will not be the same without you. EFFINGHAM 140, CODE 4?---
"140 Effingham CODE 4, THANK YOU". Crystal Melton

Dennis,

I don't know where to begin. I didn't know you long, but in the short 8 mnths I have known you, I feel as if I have known you forever. I only wish I could have had more time. I know that everyone that was with you at some point on Friday wishes they would have known that it was going to be the last time we ever got see or talk to you, and we all wish we would have said or done more. I know I would have stayed longer that morning and shared more laughs with you. Even though I did not know it was the last time I would get to laugh with you, I am grateful for the time I had. As a green, wet behind the ears, rookie, I can't think of a better way to have joined the Brothers in Blue than with the humor and "antics" that you welcomed me with. You were always there when I wasn't sure what to do, and you were always there to make sure I didn't screw up. I thank God that Stacy introduced you to me, and I am glad I was able to share more than a few laughs with you. I will never forget you, you had a presence unlike many others. You are and will always be a Brother to me, and I will do my best not to let you down. Thank You for everything Dennis. The pain and sorrow that I like many others feel, is only temporary, for we all know that this is not how you would have us be. Again, Thank You Dennis, I am proud to have been able to call you my friend, you will be dearly missed, I'll never forget the things I learned from you, and when the radio keys up with nothing but silence, I will thank of you and the sound of your voice, and with that very distinct sound hear, " 140 Effingham... 10-8" Rest well Brother, you earned it, we've got the watch now. We will see you again some day but until that time, Live On "FLAV140".

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
“Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?”
The officer squared his shoulders and said,
“No, Lord, I guess I ain’t.
Cause those of us who carry badges can’t always be a saint.
But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.
I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you’ve a place for me here, Lord, it needn’t be so grand.
I’ve never expected or had too much.
But if you don’t, I’ll understand.”
There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
“Step forward now, Officer, you’ve borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven’s Streets. You’ve done your time in Hell.”

Rest in Peace Deputy Wright
