Reflections for Investigator David Michael Petzold
GOD BLESS THE FAMILY'S
November 9, 2006
Rest in peace, Sir! You are not forgotten.
Police Officer
November 9, 2006
I wanted to just leave a quick note to the family of Officer Petzold, that although I do not know this man personaly, I want to thank him and to let his children know their father must have been a very good man. I am sure he was aware of the danger in doing what he did, and to still have taken the time and thoughfulness to remove that deer , so that everyone else would be safe, in turn costing his own life, shows to me what kind of a man he was. I sincerely apreciate his caring, and his children should view him as a true hero.

My deepest condolences go out to Jess and her children. My daughter Kaitlyn cheers on the 85 squad with Sarah and knows both Sarah and Sam from their camp and daycare. My daughter had a wonderful experience in meeting Mr.Petzoid last summer when he visited her daycare. He was wonderful with all of the children and spend some extra time talking to my daughter which she talks about often. I have known and seen the Petzoid family over the last two years since I moved to Center Valley through SLYFA activities and they are truelly a loving and caring family. I know it will be difficult over the next few weeks and years and wanted to let you know the thoughts and prayers of our family go out to yours.

Rest in Peace Brother, your job is done...
"The Final Inspection"
The Policeman stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining
just as brightly as his brass.
"STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN.
HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU?
HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED
THE OTHER CHEEK?
TO MY CHURCH, HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"
The Policeman squared his shoulders
and said "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a Saint.
I've had to work most Sundays
and at times my talk was rough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awful tough.
But I never took a penny
that wasn't mine to keep...
Though I've worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help.
Though at times, I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
but if you don't, I'll understand.
There was silence all around the Throne,
where the Saints had often trod,
As the Policeman waited quietly
for the judgement of his God.
"STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN.
YOU'VE BORNE YOUR
BURDENS WELL.
COME WALK A BEAT
ON HEAVEN'S STREETS.
YOU'VE DONE YOUR TIME IN HELL."
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to
ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably
more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so
remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best
friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry
because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you
love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've
never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute
of happiness you'll never get back.
Don't be afraid that your life will end,
be afraid that it will never begin.

My daughter rides the bus with Sarah. I did not know David and Jessica, but my heart aches for her, her children, and extended family for their loss. No words come to mind to help during this time but I hope the memories and legacy that David has left will help others and that no one ever forgets all he contributed. Our babysitter had David during several D.A.R.E session at St. Michaels and remembered what a warm, compassionate man he was - - he gave so much and truly was an inspiration to others. May this give you comfort. God bless and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

WE LITTLE KNEW THE MORNING THAT
GOD WAS GOING TO CALL YOUR NAME.
IN LIFE WE LOVED YOU DEARLY
IN DEATH WE DO THE SAME.
IT BROKE OUR HEARTS TO LOSE YOU,
YOU DID NOT GO ALONE;
FOR PART OF US WENT WITH YOU,
THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME.
YOU LEFT US PEACEFULL MEMORIES,
YOU LOVE IS STILL OUR GUIDE,
AND THOUGH WE CANNOT SEE YOU,
YOU ARE ALWAYS AT OUR SIDE.
OUR FAMILY CHAIN IS BROKEN
AND NOTHING SEEMS THE SAME,
BUT AS GOD CALLS US ONE BY ONE,
THE CHAIN WILL LINK AGAIN.
I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I TRAGICALLY LOST MY FATHER A YEAR AGO AND IT IS STILL VERY HARD. HE IS A TRUE HERO WHO GAVE HIS LIFE TO SAVE OURS. GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

A Hero in every sense of the word. Any time a fellow brother or sister is lost it is felt by all in uniform. Let us continue the job that David leaves behind.
