Reflections for Investigator David Michael Petzold

My Dear Brother David,
I know you are safe and resting well. My heart aches for those of us who are now without you and it is also full of pride for all you have done with your life.

My hopes are that you find a way to help Jess always remember the joy of loving you and find peace, that your children will always know how much you treasure them, that us, as your siblings, will celebrate your life with your children, Jess, each other, our parents, family and friends, and that your fellow officers in Upper Saucon who mourn your loss as deeply as we do, continue to make a difference in the lives of your family, your community and elsewhere remembering how much it meant to you.

I promise to help Jess in whatever way I can. She is my sister and friend and that will never change. I will share my memories of you with your children and delight in their lives even more than before. I'm blessed to have been your sister. I miss knowing that you are only a phone call away, but now I know you are only a prayer away from my heart.

Rest Well Little Brother,
Love,Christine

Dear Jessica, first of all let me start by saying that we, other surviving spouses are here for you, and that the COPS (CONCERN OF POLICE SURVIVORS)organization is here for you and your family. I thought that I was strong, but after I read your reflection to Bryan, from BSO, a man that died 3 days after your husband and you took the time for that, I take my hat off to you. Please, do not hesitate to contact me at anytime, my husband Emilio, as yours was killed in line of duty on 11/6/86, and I also had small children, I wish you the best and love to you and your family.

God Bless,

Terry Miyares, surviving spouse

Hi Hon,
I can't believe it has now been 11 days since I last saw you, talked to you, was touched by you. Over the past 16 years we were never apart this long. After all that has gone on since you were taken from me....I still can't believe that you are not going to come walking thru that door...I just can't seem to get it thru my head. I miss you more than anything.
I talked to Carin the other night...she is such a wonderful woman, funny, caring and strong. We are going to get together after Thanksgiving and let the kids play. Give Jesse a big hug for her.
Talk to you in my dreams...
Forever and always,
Jess

Jessica ~

It was great talking to you last night, I am so glad you called. You are a strong woman and you are going to be fine - I'm sure Dave is very proud of you. We'll get together soon, the kids can play and we can laugh and cry and share stories about our husbands. Take care of yourself and know that I think of you every day.

Warmly ~
Carin

Once again we are faced with sorrow of another officer who has given their life helping to protect others. This not only brings sadness to the family but also to the department and the law enforcement of this great country and world. We pray that your sorrow will not be forgotten and that there are other officers there for you in your time of need.

My deepest sympathy to your family, friends, and brothers and sisters of the Saucon Township Police department. I wish I can say some words that would make the pain easier to take, but there are no such words. I cry everytime I hear another officer has been taken from us, especially when I hear they were struck by of vehicle. We lost our son nine months ago-struck by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop. My heart goes out to all whose lives you touched. Rest in Peace, Sir...

I picked up the newspaper this morning to find that I was transported back to March 8, 2006 when my beloved son, Matthew died while on duty in an auto accident. From my own experience, I can only say that no words I can offer will give you any comfort or peace. I just want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. We are connected in such an unfortunate way. It has been eight months since my son's death and the pain is as excruciating now as it was on the day he was taken away from us.

I am truly sorry for your loss.
