Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Master Police Officer David George Whitson

It is National Police Week up here in DC. As I saw all the officers from around our great country, coming to honor their fallen officers today, my thoughts came to you and your family. Know that they are forever in my thoughts and prayers.

Thinking of you today, Slim. You are still greatly missed and will never be forgotten. We could never, ever forget the day you were taken from us and your family. We know that you still watch over your fellow officers while they continue walking their beat. Thank you for that. Miss you.

Happy Birthday David. It has been a big day for us as I am sure you know. Jacob has been Baptised. You would have been so proud to see him walk up there and pledge his faith to God, he seemed so grown up. He choose today because he thought it would be like having you there even though you weren't. We miss you so very much, sometimes I still feel like you are going to walk through that front door but you never do. I have so many thoughts that I just can't express but you know how I feel, but anyway I will love you always and Happy Birthday.

Master Police Officer "Slim" Whitson,

October 31, 2006 is forever etched in my memory. I saw and experienced the pain on the faces of the officers and the family and friends that knew and loved you as news spread that we had lost you. My heart still grieves for your wife, your children, the BGPD Officers and the Community of Bowling Green. Life has never been the same. Thank you for your service and the ultimate sacrifice. We miss you!

Your infectious smile is what I miss the most. It's been three years now and Jason still can't watch anything concerning police officers without tearing up. Just thinking of you today with Christmas so close. Miss you!

It has been three years today. I was thinking I had a handle on my emotions but I had a break down today. I really do miss you. You were ripped away from us way to soon...It is hard to not only loose a uncle and one of my best friends, My Hero died 3 years ago. It is a honor to have known you the time I did. I am proud to part of your family. I am looking forward to the day I can see you again. To anyone who reads this, cherish your friends and family, you never know when they may leave. RIP MPO David Whitson. EOW 10-31-2006.

Well David I was just sitting here with Madison and you popped into my head. It has been 3 years since that dark day in 2006 when Robert gave me the tragic news. Even though we all have continued the fight you are frequently thought of. I keep your business card in my police car directly above me, attached to the ceiling. See, you are truly watching over me. Miss ya buddy

My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Whitson's family and friends today as they remember his life and legacy. Anyone who loves an officer knows the tiny squeeze of worry that happens when they leave for work. These men and women do so much for so many, and it's heartbreaking when their service ends in tragedy.

Words are never enough, but please know that a lot of people are praying for your comfort and are ever thankful for Officer Whitson's selfless service.

We miss you so much. Chris has recently received a tattoo of your badge and name on his left arm. Bet you did not know he cared that much. We think of you alot. I learned so much growing up with youand had alot of laughs, I want to make sure our kids have the same fun. They have been together quite a bit this summer. I am so glad that Holly stayed in Bowling Green. We will always be here for her, Jacob and Hanna. William still talks about you, he has made sure that his school teachers know who you are also. Children are the greatest gift and we will do whatever Holly needs to make sure Jacob and Hanna get everything they need.
