Reflections for Master Police Officer David George Whitson
There will never be a proper way to say how much David will be missed. I only had the honor of knowing David for a few months. My first day meeting him I was having a horrible day at work. He came up to me and with very little words changed my mood for the entire day. I felt that day that he was a little angel sent to help me get through that day. I even told him and he laughed at me. I had no idea that that little angel I met that day would soon be the newest angel sent to watch over all of us. Rest in peace sir, you deserve it.

Officer Whitson, my prayers go out to your wife and two children and the Bowling Green Police Department. Though you had a right to use your firearm against this individual, you tried to subdue him, thus sparing his life. You tried to do the honorable thing and you are a hero.
My prayers also go out to the officers who fired the shots. You are no doubt going through hell, but rest assured, though it sometimes doesn’t turn out the way you want, doing the RIGHT thing is always the RIGHT thing.
God Bless you all, and may Officer Whitson Rest in Peace.

M.P.O. Whitson was one of those few people that you could meet and within 30 seconds know he was one of the best people you had ever met in your life. I never saw him without a smile and some way to make you smile with him. I worked with M.P.O. Whitson while he was with Dillard's Loss Prevention and don't think I ever remember him being unhappy. My thoughts and prayers go out not only to M.P.O. Whitson and his family and frinds, but also to the other two officers that were there that day. Always remeber that David will always be watching over and protecting you.

From my grandma, she told me that david always wanted to be a hero and now he is.David could always make us laugh when he would talk about something he did in the past, with friends,or something he saw in a tv show.David has his two kids jacob and hannah, his wife holly, and the rest of his family and friends.I always thought people were never supposed to die this early, but mabye the lord wanted to take him somewhere that he desires and not this hell hole! For everybody that is writing or reading these,David would want you to be his friends and from our family we are telling you thanks! And may slim from what all his friends at the police station call him,may he rest in peace!

David was a fine officer and even better as a person. I was fortunate to get to know him pretty well over the last couple of years, personally and professionally. I was not present when the photo above was taken but I know as soon as it was taken, David looked at someone and smiled. Those of you who know him know exactly what I mean.

Although I did not know MPO Whitson personally, I had seen him around the courthouse on several occasions. He always struck me as a very well-grounded, solid police officer, who either had a friendly word for everybody or a smile on his face. His life and legacy truly personifies the word "hero."
It is my hope and prayer that his wife and children, as well as the entire BGPD, are comforted throughout this terrible time.

To the family, friends, loved ones, and all who wear the badge of law enforcement we come to this memorial with very heavy hearts. We have lost another fine MPO. We lose our military daily. Our police officers and all who wear that badge seem to be going into our own war zone every day. Why does it seem so easy for people to take another humans life? No matter what service they belong too these men and women put their lives on the line 24/7.
Our prayers go out to all the family, and others who are left behind.
"A brief moment of darkness"
was all that I knew,
before Heaven's Gate
came into my view.
Loved ones and friends
I had missed for many years,
welcomed me with open arms
and many happy tears.
All the hurt, fear and pain
that I have ever known,
is gone from my life,
I am finally home.
I gazed upon the Lord's
sweet smiling face,
and for the first time in my life
I knew and felt His grace.
I know that you miss me,
but please dry your eyes.
I will always be watching and loving you
from my home in the sky.
A cool breeze on your face,
a touch of light rain,
I will send as a reminder
that we will be reunited again.
Life on earth is but one
brief moment in time,
I am finally home,
Eternity is mine.
God Bless You All
