I'm thinking back, and I see Jeff right now riding his Big Wheel as a very young boy full if life and energy like there was no tomorrow. Now, that tomorrow has now been taken away from him and his family. The pain and sorrow I feel can't even be put into words. Just know that I love you all and you are in my prayers. His smile tells it all, forever in our hearts.

Jeff,
I am saddened by the loss of another brother. Today (10-29-2006) The Police Officers in Mercer County Pennsylvania will be celebrating our annual "Blue Mass" at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sharon, PA. We celebrate this Mass to honor the brave men and women like you you have paid the ultimate sacrifice. As Christ himself said " No love is greater than laying down your life for a friend " You have layed down your life for your community, for some people you don't even know. This is admirable. We are honored to call you "brother" We will mention your name today and say a prayer for your family. Look after your brothers you left behind.
To Jeff's family, I know that no answer will ever be enough to satisfy what happened. It is a true tragedy. Jeff has served and lived up to his promise as a police officer. He is a hero! Hold your head up high to know that he is a Knight in God's army against evil. Good will prevail, it always does!
God Bless,
Gerald Smith, and the all those who wear the shield here in Pennsylvania.

I pray that St. Michael may assist his earthly brethren in finding the person responsible for this cowardly act and that justice may be swift and fitting.
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
