Our prayers and those of our families are with you and yours at this horrific time. May God guide your comrades in arms to your murderer/plotters. I pray that justice is swift and that it spare your family any trial that may cause them further anguish.
The dangers faced daily by all of this great nation's police officers are constant and unrelenting. It is obvious that with your execution and that of Officer Cook R.I.P. (Metra PD E.O.W. 27SEP06), war has been declared on law enforcement in the Chicagoland area. War they shall have...
God be with you and the army of fallen heroes you join...
See you tomorrow at the services friend...

As a resident of Maywood, it hurts deeply that an officer was gunned down in my town. I want the world to know that most maywood residents are stunned, shocked and grieving over this tragedy. I didn't know the officer personally but honor his sacrifice. Thank you for standing up for this community. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I responded to the call of an officer down on that night. I will never forget the images that have been burned into my memory forever. I will always remember when I came on the job working midnigts and Tom was next door in Maywood. He was always willing to help and up for a good conversaion. Myself and the Bellwood PD will miss you and honor your dedication to duty the same way you did when we lost our officer. God bless my brothers and sisters at the Maywood PD, Tom and his family.

Rest in Peace Officer Tom. You will never be forgotten by me. When I found out that he was gone, I was totally devastated and heart broken. Tom has been a wonderful friend in my life. I will miss him so dearly. He became a very good friend of mine and became apart of my family. He was known as the "family friend." I will miss his smile his goofiness and the laughter we had. Tom was always in good spirits and he was someone who loved his family. His family came first. He had a very big heart. My condolences goes out to his wife and five children. R.I.P. and you will always be in my heart forever. I will miss you dearly.

To the family and friends of Officer Thomas Wood and to his fellow officers of the Maywood Police Department:
I was so saddened to learn of the tragic death of this young dedicated officer. On behalf of our entire family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you sustained when Officer Wood was brutally murdered in the line of duty.
May you be comforted and supported by the warm embrace of your law enforcement family, and by other police survivors who share your painful journey.
My heart goes out to this young family. In reading the reflections abouth Tom, it is obvious that he profoundly touched the lives of many people and that he was an amazing husband, father, family member, friend and peer. That is a wonderful legacy to leave to all those who cared for him.
I hope that the despicable criminal who shot Officer Wood is apprehended without any further harm to law enforcement, and that Officer Wood's family gets the full measure of justice that he and they deserve.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Officer Wood gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 23, 2006.
