As a member of the New York State Police for over 25 years, I have the right and privilege to convey to the family of Deputy Margena S.Nunez, and to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, that the New York State Police and PBA are extremely sadden for the lost of this fine human being. Our collective hearts goes out to the family of Deputy Margena S. Nunez, and our prayers that the family will be at peace knowing that Deputy Nunez is at peace. Family members please know that Our Lord will take care of Deputy Nunez from this point forward.

I often sat east & had the pleasure of listening to your voice. You always came across the radio with joy and happiness. You could always make me smile. We did not know each other very well but I was there when you needed me. You will be greatly missed.

Margena, as I was walking down the hall a few days before you left us, your bright smile brightened my day. It was just about time for my shift to start and I didn't get to talk to you as we normally do. You were leaving from dropping off your evidence around 4:30 AM that morning and never did I know that this would be the last time that I would see your smiling face. The spot that you stopped me in in the hallway was in front of the glass cases where all of the fallen officers of LCSO stands ... now I will have to pass by you day by day in that very same case. You were such an encouraging young lady and hard working mother and you will NEVER be forgotten! May you rest in peace Margena and know that you will always be in my heart and soul. May God bless you and your family that you left behind and I know that you are in a better place now. I love you and will miss you!!!!!
~ FRIENDS ~
As we walk our path of life,
We meet people everyday.
Most are simply met by chance.
But, some are sent our way.
These become special friends
Whose bond we can't explain;
The ones who understand us
And share our joy and pain.
Their love contains no boundaries.
So, even we are apart.
Their presence enhances us
With a warmth felt in the heart.
This love becomes a passageway,
When even the miles disappear.
And so, these friends, God sends our way,
Remain forever near.

I will never forget you. That smile, voice, and the joy you brought to me through your caring and kindness. I can remember our first encounter at the CPU's. No one knew how to do the sergeant report, so you volunteered to came over and assisted me and we did it. That night lunched a friendship that would last forever. I will never forget you

"Final Call"
An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.
Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."
-You will be missed by all in your law enforcement family...we'll take it from here.

I remember when you started as a Medical Technician at the jail. We worked together back in the old jail booking area. Then you became a clerk and went to the CPU’S. The next thing I know you wanted to be an officer and had to leave us for a while to fulfill that dream somewhere else. I would see you at Veterans Park running the track every so often. You wanted to make sure you passed PT in the Academy. Well you graduated and came back to work for Lee County. You didn’t stop there and went to the Cross Over Academy. You were always striving for more knowledge. You finally went to the Road. We were all sad because we wouldn’t see you all the time to make us laugh. I will always remember you.

It seems like yesterday, we were having lunch together as Clerks at the Stockade. Then you were gone, off to be a Correction Officer and I filled your spot as a Clerk. I then followed in your foot steps and became a Correction Officer as well. You visited me a few months ago at my home about a case you were working. I didn’t know that would be the last time I would see your smile. My heart is heavy with grief, but I know you are in a better place with God. You will forever be a hero. I miss you much! Gone But Never Forgotten.

Oh, the good times and laughs we shared.I can still see your face when that spider came across your desk and you made me catch it. You were a special person to everyone's life that you touched, and that special piece of our heart will be broken from our loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family. The man that took your life will not know the grief that he caused to your family and friends in the Law Enforcement Community. We know that you are in heaven looking down on us to keep us all safe, and when we hear the laugh in the hallway, turn around and see no one, we know you are still here.God Bless !
