Robert,

Words can't describe how I feel right now. The law enforcement community has lost one of the great ones. Whenever things were slow in the city I would drive through campus to see what was going on. If I passed by you, you were always willing to talk. I will continue to pray for your family.

To the wife and family of Officer Robert Langley...
I am so sorry for your loss. My husband was killed in a motorcycle accident just over 6 months ago, and he left me with a nine month old baby to raise on my own. I want you to know that my prayers are with you, and I ask the Lord to give you "supernatural" strength to get through the next few weeks, months, and even years. My husband was only 27, young like yours, and we had only been married for five years. I understand what you are going through even though I know that won't take away your pain. The only advice I can offer is to continue to think of your husband and look at his pictures and tell stories about him because remembering him is what will help you. It won't be easy, especially because you have four children, but come back to these kinds of sights and read the nice things people have to say. It will help. Praying for you, Ashley Byrd

Robert, I only had the opportunity to meet you a couple of times while working. You were always courteous, professional and eager to help. The world has lost a great officer, friend, husband and father. It is an honor to have served along side you and the other officers of the University Police Department. I know God had provided a place for you and you will always be here with us. My deepest condolences go out to your family.

What a vicious unprovoked attack!! So senseless, just because of some traffic violation. This driver has absolutely no respect for life or authority. To the family and fellow officers, please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

What a tragedy for another police officer to be taken from us at such a young age and those that have gone before him. What is going on with society today???????? All we can do is put our lives in the hands of the All Mighty because he is the one our destiny is in. It still is hard to come to this special place for our Law Enforcement Heroes.
"A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER"
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE,,,
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

What a Blessing you have given to all who knew you Police Officer Langley.
God Bless You All
