Josh, Just a few lines to let you know that you're in my thoughts and prayers 24/7. It's not getting any easier. I hope to be there in Titusville to honor your wonderful memory, please help me to be strong for you. Love, Mom 4-28-07

April 28, 2007

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Josh, All of your former co-workers think about you often. I know all of us wish we could go back in time and spend more time with you, or say one more meaningful thing to you. We miss that smile of yours. You were so young to be taken and you and Dale's death made no sense to us. I even knew there had to be a reasonable explanation about that test, and you came out on top. I pray that your children have good and long-lasting memories of their father, and that your family can make it through one day at a time without you. It is hard to realize that you are in a better place than we are, and that we will see you and all of our fallen brothers and sisters again one day. YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!

Josh,
there's not one day go by that I don't think of and tell you I love you I miss you more and more each and every day you were so special to me and always there for me whenever I needed someone. You always told me you were just a phone call away. It just doesn't seem fair that gone. Just remember that I always loved you and I always will.
Love always and forever

HAPPY EASTER JOSH !!!

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.
I thought of you yesterday and days before that, too.
I think of you in silence, I speak your name with pride,
And I relive our memories of living side by side.
Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part.
God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.

We lost you as you were wanting so badly to help another Trooper. You made your dad proud and all of us that did the job before you and you are a Trooper to be admired by those yet to wear the uniform.
Rest easy young man.

Josh,
Today marks 6 months. Sometimes it seems as if the time has dragged on and on, one agonizing day after another. Sometimes it doesn’t seem as if it has been 6 months already. Either way, it has been terribly hard to get over your absence and is still hard to get up each day and know that you are still gone and not coming back. There isn’t a day goes by that I don’t think of you and my heart aches. You will never be forgotten, Josh. How could a person like you ever be forgotten?

Josh, a half a year has not eased the pain of those left behind. I know your presence is still here and there are so many memories. My hope is that Bridgit, John, Rita, P-27, D-9 can find solace, because it has not come yet. Your children will always know what a great dad they have. I wonder if you ever knew how much you meant to us all. I'll do my part and you do yours to support your brothers at Gallipolis.

Hey Josh, Jonathon Seabolt came to be with you. He was a trooper over in Georgetown and was killed in an off duty accident. Please show him the "ropes" and if you can, put in a good word for his post. We all know how they feel right now. They feel robbed and cheated that they dont have more time with him. Just as we all feel/felt with you and Dale.

God bless you Josh. You are a good person and you are a very missed trooper by all of us. Rest easy.

Your friends are really missing you.I guess men don't often realize how much they mean to each other until they are gone. I pray all the time for you and your family and all your friends that love you.

March 12, 2007

Josh,

I have never had the oppurtunity to meet you but this story was felt state wide, even though there are so many miles between us, we all are brothers and stick together. It doesn't matter if we are dispatchers or troopers. With a situation of this nature there are no words that can say enough. I would just like to let you and your family know that my family has and will continue to pray for your wife and childreneach and every day, knowing that there lives will never be the same, but hopefully can get back on track one day. Josh once again thanks for serving the citizens "proudly" of OHIO.

Josh

I'm not sure what to say other than we all miss you so much and I think of you and Dale each and every day. Some tell me that I'm too close, I should let it go and put it behind me. I can not and will not! Since that fateful day last September we have had our ups and downs making things very difficult for your family, coworkers, friends and the entire community. People are working hard to ensure that in the event of a tragedy in the future things will be dealt with differently. Your Dad and I have talked numerous times on how much we miss you here with us. We have tried to shield Bridgette from harms way with all of the controversy but she has done a great job of standing up on her own. She has demonstrated strength beyond belief even coming to my aid on several occasions. I'm so proud of the courage she has been able to have throughout this tragedy. I'm sure proud of all your coworkers and your family and friends for standing up for you, we all truely love and miss you. I'm looking forward to traveling with the group from D-9 to D.C. in May to pay tribute to you and Dale and all others for their sacrifice. I often think of our private conversations that we had about riding that motorcycle with Dad. He is and always will be so proud of you. Please know that you are always in our hearts and I miss you dear friend, never to be forgotten on my watch, ever!

Here is a piece of a story I found about some good police work by Josh.

According to Sheriff David L. Martin, Michael Woodfork, 30, and Letita Taylor, 26, 5420 Ohio 7 South, Gallipolis were pulled over in the 2000 Mercedes by Trooper Josh Risner of the Gallipolis Post of the State Highway Patrol, at 1:37 a.m. on September 7, 2005, for a registration violation. It was then discovered that the driver, Woodfork, had a suspended license and the vehicle was placed into custody.

Before towing the Mercedes, an inventory was done by the trooper according to patrol policy, and a large amount of white powdery substance, later identified as cocaine, was found in the vehicle.

Taylor was then taken into custody.

A search warrant was obtained for the couple's residence where additional narcotics, weapons, and automobiles were seized.

According to the Gallia County Sheriff's Office, Woodfork was charged with felony drug abuse, having weapons under disability, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and pled not guilty in his initial appearance in Municipal Court.

He later entered a plea change to guilty of felony drug abuse in a bill of information and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Woodfork agreed to forfeit the 1989 Pontiac to the Gallia County Sheriff's Office and is currently serving his sentence in one of Ohio's penitentiaries.

Taylor was charged with felony complicity to drug abuse and also entered an initial plea of not guilty.

She later agreed to a plea change and entered a plea of guilty to misdemeanor possession of cocaine as a result of a negotiated plea with the Gallia County Prosecutor's Office and her attorney.

Taylor agreed to forfeit claim of ownership of the 2000 Mercedes and turned it over to the Gallia County Sheriff's Office.

Perry commended Trooper Risner for his actions that led to these convictions and forfeitures.

Just a little something to remind us of the good that Josh did.
