Reflections for Officer Michael Leland Briggs
Officer Briggs you have made the ultimate sacrifice. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten. I pray that your family, friends and coworkers can find the strength to get thru the next few weeks and months. He is watching over you. My son was killed by gunfire in a robbery in a small town in Upstate NY in Feb. We are now dealing with the first of 3 trials. God will grant us all the power to heal from this horrific ordeal. God Bless Kathy Corr

In Valor there is Hope.
Policeman's 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.
He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.
When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.
He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

How sad that something so shameful, so senseless and so savage could happen in a state where some of the most beautiful places on this earth are. I’ve spent more summers than I can count in New Hampshire and was in Manchester just one month ago. The safety of my family was never in doubt because of fine officers like Officer Briggs. Society owes him a debt of gratitude for his immeasurable sacrifice.
I wish there were words that could express the sorrow I feel for the Briggs family, the Manchester community and the law enforcement family in Manchester and throughout the state of New Hampshire. Just nine short years ago we lost a wonderful man and officer from our department (Detective Charles Lazzaretto, May 27, 1997). His memory lives on and so will that of Officer Briggs.
To the Briggs family, my prayers are with you. May you find peace and comfort in God’s love.

Thou, this animal took you way from your loving wife and sons please rest easy knowing that we your brother officers, left with heavy hearts, will help to look after all that was taken from you. God speed and, God bless to the Briggs family and Manchester P.D. I support the NH AG Ayotte for the direction she is taking to prosecute the case (capital murder) against the criminal who ended Ofc. The greatest fear any chief has is to loose an officer under his command. The loss of Officer Mike Briggs affects all of us very deeply, even more so for his family and his brother and sisters in the Manchester PD.
All of us in New Hampshire Law Enforcement accept the risks that go with the shield. Our families do also.
We will make it through this ordeal because quit is not a word we accept. We will support each other and pray with, and for, each other as we pray for Mike, his family and out friends at Manchester PD.
May god bless Mike and his family and may Saint Michael meet him along the way and provide him an escort throuogh the gates of heaven.

Briggs Family, Friends, and MPD,
I am sorry for your loss, it is never easy when we lose an officer. Last month, I lost a friend/partner/co-worker to a tragic event much like this one. During the service, the Police Chaplain said, "We are not weaker because of his death, but we are stronger because of his life." I have found that this has helped me, so I sincerely hope it helps you deal with your pain.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Briggs, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
