Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Michael Leland Briggs

R.I.P Officer Briggs

I approach the vehicle, as bluelights bounce around me,
It's not a matter of like and hate, it's the violation I saw.
As I get closer, the danger I do not see,
I'm thinking of enforcing the law.

I hear the shot, and feel the pain,
As I drop to the ground
The car speeds off driven by a man who has to be insane,
As I finally into my radio, mumble,"Officer Down!"

As I lay there, I thought of my wife,
I see the dreams we had made.
I ask the Lord to please spare my life,
Then I felt myself begin to fade.

I stopped him only for speeding,
Then I heard a sweet voice on my ear.
"Come with me son, to Heaven I am leading.
No more will you have to shed a tear."

I opened my eyes to see my Savior,
He said, "Follow me, my son.
He will pay for his behavior,
For you have performed a job well done!"

It is a time of sorrow, it is a time of grief, and it is a sad time for officers and families during this sudden loss of life. We here at Cops Evangelist Ministries will have you in our prayers daily for the following days of grief. The world feels a little more empty as we say goodbye and Honor a Hero, Father, Son, and Brother. Although I never had the privilege of working with Officer Briggs, I can't help but be saddened by the loss of such a fine Officer. Your spirit will forever live on in your Community, and in the hearts of all you touched in your short time in this world. God Bless your family, and Brother Officers, in this time of suffering.

Godspeed to a true HERO, you will not be forgotten.

Fallen Hero

A Hero lays there silent
against the cold and lonely ground

Fellow brothers kneel before him
Praying to keep him safe and sound

Angels rush to his side to lift him,
To the place he can be safe

This Hero is someone special
A Man you cannot forsake

A Hero who walked the streets
To keep them safe for you and me

A man we all looked up to
The person we could only hope to be

This Hero has been taken from us
Way before his time

Shot in the line of Duty
By a coward thru and thru

He gave his life protecting
his family, fellow brothers, me and you

This Fallen Hero's name is Michael Briggs
And his memory will run true

God Bless you Michael and your family
For what you have gone through

My thoughts and prayers are with them
If there was only more that I could do
