Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Officer Michael Leland Briggs

Officer Briggs, it has been 18 years since you were taken from us. New Hampshire law enforcement continues to serve and protect and make life secure for our part of the country. I have had contacts with your son, Chief Mitchell Briggs of the Grafton, NH Police Department, a striking representation of your legacy!

Thank you for your 11 years of law enforcement service to the citizens of Hillsborough County, Epsom and Manchester.

Officer Briggs, it has been 17 years since you were taken from us. I was and have always been amazed at how the City of Manchester turned out to support your family and the Department. The eerie silence that I have never heard in that City during your procession was deafening!

New Hampshire law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your military, corrections and law enforcement service.

This morning, 28 October 2020, Office Michael Briggs was remembered during the daily Officer Down reading at the Reading, MA Police Academy. A moment of silence was observed in honor of Officer Briggs. His service and sacrifice are not forgotten.

It has now been 13 years. Not a Police Officer in New England does not know your story. Every time it's brought up, we all feel that twinge of pain and sadness. Oddly enough, I just left a reflection for a Brookline, Ma Officer who had saved the life of the man who murdered him in 1904. Irony sometimes sucks.

You were a hero then, you're a hero now. Officer Briggs, you are not forgotten and we honor your memory here, Brother. God Bless and may you have continued peace in your eternal rest.

I miss you Mike. I will always remember you, Jeremy (Charron) and I would have such good times while studying for the part time academy so long ago at the Charron farm in Pittsfield. Now both of you are gone. It brings me to tears just thinking about it. Love you my fallen brother

Almost ten years now. I still think of you once in awhile. You were a decent guy. You looked past my weaknesses, my flaws, and smiled and laughed at me...no, WITH me. You always made me smile!
