Reflections for Trooper William Lloyd McClendon

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Bill, not only are you my brother-in-law, but we also had a special everlasting bond. You will never know how much your brother and I miss you.
Bill
I watched you grow from a boy to a man
Make your place in this world and take your stand.
Our bond was stronger than any of our fights
We proved that with endless talks through many nights.
You chose your life as a Highway Patrol
Protecting us all, keeping control.
I always told you never to drive
faster than your angel could fly.
You would hug me tight and give me that smile
I knew in my heart, you would go that extra mile.
You always told me, "I'll never grow old"
Why couldn't that had been one of your stories you told.
You would say "when its my time, I'll go in my car"
true to your word, you're now one of heavens stars.
Your time here with us wasn't enough
I can hear you now saying Be strong, be tough.
As each day passes, as we all know they will
I will look to the heavens knowing you are protecting us
still..................Shirley McClendon
