I would like to express my appreciation to Officer Houts for his service to his country as well as to the City of Montgomery.
I am a family member of Chief Duty Alfred Wadsworth of the Autauga County Sheriff's Department who is a fellow officer down. I know the sacrafice the family will make for years to come and the loss that can never be replaced. There will be tough roads ahead but you will seek comfort in knowing he will be watching over you from heaven.
May prayers are with you and your family. Brenda Free McGlaun

I come to this sight every day in hopes I will not find another hero that has lost his life in the line of duty. Here at Canon City Internet Radio send our prayers and our deepest sympathies at this time of deepest sorrow. You will remain in our hearts forever, Officer Houts, was not just a hero in his police department but also for his country.
"A Part Of America Died",
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

Dear Mrs. Houts and the rest of Officer Houts' family:
The service that Keith rendered to the people of the great state of Alabama and his service to our country during the war will never be forgotten. A good man and decent man is gone, but his spirit is with us forever, encouraging us all to continue with our job of keeping other animals from preying on the innocent. Already a murderous animal is out of our society forever as a result of the unfathomable price that Keith paid. Also, thanks for the help from our brothers in the US Marshalls.

We are losing far too many of the good guys. We just lost one of our own, K-9 officer Diogi and his handler Deputy Matt Williams due to gunshots sustained as well. My thoughts go out to this officer's wife during this horrific time. God bless his family and all of his extended L.E. enforcement family as they deal with losing one of their own. God Bless you all.
