Reflections for Officer Keith Edwin Houts
Officer Houts - I salute you for your service to MPD and our country. You knew the risks and still chose to take on this service. For that we will always be thankful. You did what you were called here to do. You were a faithful servant and one that God is commending for a job well done right now. Go now and rest in peace.
Ashley - I do not know what you are feeling. As the wife of a fellow officer I can only imagine. I do know that God has promised to never leave us. He is with you and I know he has his arms around you and will comfort you as no one else can. Lean on him and draw your strength from him and find assurance that you will see Keith again one day. You will be in our prayers.
Family and fellow officers - You too will be in our prayers. Thank you for sharing Officer Houts with us. We will always be thankful for him and the sacrifices he made. Thank you to each Officer he leaves behind. I know you have heard this many timess over the past few days. I pray you hear it for many more days to come. Police Officers are rarely told this. Remember, God says venegence is mine. He will see that justice is done here. I pray God will comfort and protect each of you.

First of all, my most sincere condolances go out to the family of Officer Houts.
I'm currently just now entering the hiring process for the MPD. Some might think that events like this would deter guys like me from going through with it and becoming LEOs in this city. Far from it. In reality, my resolve has redoubled.
Rest in peace, brother. I hope that my service will help ensure your sacrifice was not in vain.

Once again I come to these pages to pay tribute to a fallen hero. It has only been 7 weeks since our department suffered the loss of Sgt. Micah Burks. Words cannot express the pain and sorrow we all are feeling at this time. The news of this brutal attack against Officer Houts brought shock and anger to the forefront of my emotions. Another family had to gather at the hospital to watch helplessly as their loved one fought for his life. Each day I am more and more thankful for our officers in uniform who put their lives on the line day after day to enforce the law, while knowing the risk is great and at any given time their life can be brought to a sudden end.
Officer Houts, I salute you for being brave as you unselfishly performed your duties as an officer of the Montgomery Police Department. You were only a short distance away from where I work every weekday when this happened to you. It disgusts me to know there are people in this world with no regard for human life. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to everyone who knew and loved you. I have the privilege of knowing one of your fellow officers. He and your other brothers will take over your watch now. You rest in peace.
Ashley, there is no doubt you are now and always will be surrounded by family and friends who will love and support you. By God’s Amazing Grace you had Keith in your life for a precious time, and forever you will have a Guardian Angel watching over you. Find comfort in knowing you will see him again one day, in a better place, where there is no violence or pain. You will be in my prayers.
Keith, you’ve joined the many angels with badges and you will be truly missed here on this earth. Thank you so very much for the sacrifice you made in trying to make the city we work and live in a safer place. Thank you for serving our country in Kuwait prior to being a member of the Montgomery Police Department. You are a true hero.
