Matt,

Rest in peace brother, we got the watch from here. You will be sorely missed at the Honor Guard meetings, and at work. Words can not express what ran through my mind when I found out you had passed on from this world, into the next to guard the streets of Heaven with Diogi. Take care, we got it from here, and we'll bring the guy who done this to justice.

God Speed.

Matt, there are NO words that can express how I feel right now. I was just joking with you yesterday, and waiting for you to start up your K-9 classes for my grand-dog. You always had a smile on your face and happy. All i can hope for is justice in finding the suspect. May God be with your wife and children in this time of need. You know your extended family will take care of them. You are now a blue angel, go walk the streets of heaven and I know you and diogi will always look down on the rest of us! I will miss your little cdpd notes back n forth as we were always asking each other if we're smiling :) You are now 10-42 rest in peace my friend and I'll never forget you or diogi!

I never knew Deputy Williams, but I would like to express my deep, deep sorrow at his passing. My prayers go out for his family, and friends. I know nothing will ease the pain right now, but I leave these words in hope and faith and blessing.

VANISHING HEROES

They rose above,
They went beyond,
The empyrean to claim,
And left behind,
Our grieving kind,
And requiem’s refrain.

Amongst the forlorn stars,
A guiding light is seen,
Therein the heady heights,
For was their quest,
To give their best,
Through this their final flight.

Now a hollow feeling,
Creeps into the souls of men,
A deep and dark despair,
The night seems long,
But we are strong,
One day we’ll meet them there.

Still, we weeping mourn,
Death’s gaping tragedy,
Hearts and heads bent low,
Yet, more tragic still,
That man would kill,
For hatreds’ blood will flow.

Now man should pray,
To also rise above,
For the inner man’s the foe,
We should, as they,
Our light display,
And be someone’s hero.

Dear Matt:
Once again, and all too often, I find myself writing a reflection to a fallen brother. You served with pride, dedication and honor. Now as you patrol the streets of Heaven, smile down on those of us still, knowing the suspect will NEVER know peace...until he is caught. AND THE JUSTICE BE SERVED. Smile down on us, knowing you will not be allowed to be forgotten, for you are one of America's heroes.
May Almighty God ease the pain of your family's suffering, may He bless you, your family, police officer everywhere in the United States, and God Bless America. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your honor. Amen

Here at the Canon City Internet Radio we send our deepest sympathies and all of our prayers to the family, loved ones, friends and all of the sisters and brothers who wear the badge of law enforcement.
"A Part Of America Died",
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

And we never, ever forget the unsung heroes our K-9 Units
"Called To Give My All"
I am a deputy in a canine crew.
I've been trained to see it through.
When danger's near my ears perk up,
they taught me that as a little pup.
I'm often there to protect your rights,
my presence sometimes hinders fights.
I never attack with thought to kill,
when subduing one, my job I fill.
I never worry a single thought,
as to how I'll fare at a certain spot.
The love I have for a handler's care,
is all I need, each day to fare.
And if some day my luck turns bad,
I'll relish all the joys I've had.
To be with men who stand for good,
in a special kind of brotherhood.
The story's end by now you know,
of how I tried for a better show.
I did my best,
though I did fall,
when I was called and gave my all.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Heroes get up each day,
To dress in blue,
They patrol our streets,
Watching our cities,
Keeping us safe each day.

Making a difference,
We often over look.

How many have we forgotten?

How many are gone,
Lost in the line of duty?

We wait 'til it's too late,
To acknowledge all they've done,
To give them our respect.

The least we can do,
Is give them their due,
Before we lose another,
Hero dressed in blue

Mrs. Williams and children,
How it breaks my heart to know that another family is going through what we had to go through just last year, when they too had a manhunt to locate the person who killed my husband. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and don't hesitate to call upon us for anything you need. We are all family and our bond is our strength.
