Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Thomas Alan Cook

Officer Cook, your murder(s) will find justice at some point, either in this life or the next. I do not doubt that your brothers and sisters at the Metra Police Dept. or any surrounding agency will truly rest until he/she/they are caught and dealt with by the criminal justice system.

I also believe with all my heart that you will never be far from your family and will watch over them always.

God Bless you and those who love and cherish you. May you Rest Eternally at Peace in Heaven.

It is with a HEAVY heart that I once again have to leave a reflection on this site. I have prayed and prayed that each one would be the last, but alas it has gone unanswered. It is not that God does not hear me, it is that there is evil out there... and Officers like Tom know that. They get up each day and put on that uniform to go out and face that evil in the hopes that we will never have to. "Blessed be the peacekeepers for they are the true hero's among us."
Tom, look down on your family and wrap your wings around them and comfort them in this dark time. I know that God will see them through this, he holds a special place in his heart for the men and women in blue and he looks after the ones that we leave behind.
Rest well my brother you have earned it.
We will stand the watch from here.

I WAS SO SADDENED TO HEAR OF THE SENSELESS DEATH OF ANOTHER POLICE OFFICER. MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY - WE HAVE LOST TOO MANY POLICE OFFICERS OVER THE YEARS AND THIS WAS SUCH A TRAGIC AND SENSELESS DEATH. POLICE OFFICERS ARE HEROS TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. THEY PUT THEMSELVES IN DANGER EVERY TIME THEY GO OUT TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AND MORE PEOPLE IN OUR SOCIETY NEED TO RECOGNIZE THIS. PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS FAMILY AND ALL OTHER FAMILIES WHO ARE SUFFERING THE LOSS OF THEIR LOVED ONES IN THE LINE OF DUTY.

Rest in Peace Hero....Thank you for all you have done for your community and country. It is few who are brave enough to wear the badge, and too hard to say goodbye when you are taken. I know you will be watching over your brothers and sisters as they continue serving in your memory.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Cook.

While no one who wears a badge wants to be put into such a situation, you put yourself into the line of fire to protect those whom you might not have even known despite the danger. While I did not have the privilege to have known you personally, I am certain that you have found a place in heaven.

Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss Tommy. I attended the academy with Tommy and spent the first three years of my police career working on the same team with Tom in Riverdale. Words cannot express my sorrow. I offer my prayers, love and respect. Pam, thank you for sharing Tommy with us. You all will be my family's prays. God’s speed brother, see you soon.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.
