Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Lee Dicken

Deputy Sheriff Dicken,
On today, the 91st anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Cameron County. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. Back in the 1990s I was on temporary assignment to the McAllen Sector and worked the US/Mexico Border along the Rio Grande River in Brownsville and the very first night I was assigned to the area around El Jardin Pump.

I mistakenly left an incorrect eow anniversary date on my previous post. Today marks the 86th anniversary of your death. Your career was distinguished in both the length and manner of it.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 113th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I am sure that you are proud of how your family has continued your legacy of protecting and serving.

Rest In Peace.

This is my Great Grandfather. In the tradition of public service his son, Jim Dicken went on to be a Captain of the Brownsville Fire Department and passed away a few years back. His grandson went on to serve in law enforcement with several agencies in South Texas. His Great Grandsons continued the service. One retiring as a Lieutenant from the Harlingen, TX Police Department and the second retiring as a Police Officer from the Tampa, FL Police Department. His Great Great Grandson serves in the United States Army.
