To the family and friends of Deputy Robbie Green and his fellow officers in the Powhaten County Sheriff's Office:
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Robbie's memory on the second anniversary of the day Robbie so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.
May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.
Please know that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement and other survivors will always be by your side on each step of the journey.
I am sorry that you did not receive the full measure of justice deserved in the criminal proceedings.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Robbie gave to his community and the citizens of Virginia, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 20, 2006.

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones today. I know the daily struggle they deal with as I walk in their shoes. Not a day goes by that they don't think of you. The first thing they think of when they wake each day is of you and the last thought before drifting off to sleep at night is of you. There are no magic words I can offer to help them with their grief except to take one day at a time and keep your memory alive. You are a true hero and have not been forgotten.

Chaytor is quite a young man. I look forward to every time that we get to watch him or having him go with us to eat. He evens says grace for us before the meal.
Your mother still greives, as do we all, for you and we are so proud that you are our son.
I'm sorry but this is hard for me now at this time, so until the next time, Robbie, I LOVE You.

this year is harder than I thought it would be. I miss you. I love you. Chaytor misses you. I know you watch over us and you can see all the progress that he has made. He has a great sense of humor and loves to play outside with all of the neighbors, they are all so good with him. I wonder what our lives would be like if you were still here?

Deputy Green:
It was such a terrible shock to see your beautiful family picture in the newspaper yesterday. I never had the pleasure to meet you but know how special you were just by the smile on Karen's face and your baby boy's happy grin. I am so very sorry that your family and friends miss you so badly. My heart breaks everytime I think about it. Anyway, once again, I was very sorry to hear about your loss and will pray for Karen, your son, your family and brothers in law enforcement who risk their lives everyday so that we are all safe. Thank you.

Just wanted to write and let you know that I'm thinking of you and I miss you.

Officer Green - as we still refer to you at our house - we only had the chance to meet you twice during a very difficult time in our lives - but you showed a very caring heart to our sweet daughter during a time that she found it hard to trust any man - but even in her little age of three she knew you were special - we went to your graveside together at her request - She wanted to know why a nice man like you had "to go to God" so soon - I guess we will never know why God needs the Angels he gives us down here - back up to heaven to soon. We feel blessed to have met you and even though we never met your wife and beautiful boy - they are in our prayers each and every day.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
