Reflections for Staff Sergeant Michael Joseph Watts

As a former Security Policeman I'm sadden by the loss of a brother policeman. I was in Kuwait when we lost two Security Policemen in one day due to a vehicle accident in 1997. No matter how much time pasts, the pain is always there. I know your wife and kids are very proud of your accomplishments and your sacrifice for our country. I wish them the best in days and years to come.

I never met you, but you are a brother in blue.
Your watch may be over, but it will never be forgotten. I served 6 years in SFS and it pains me that we lost a member of such a large family. My prayers are with your family and I'm proud to keep your watch going down here on the streets. God be with you and watch over us down here

Having known Mike for only a short time, he quickly impressed me as a true professional, and a devoted husband and father. His light shined brightly and he became one of my very best NCOs - one I looked forward to working with and rely upon. My prayers will always include him, his wife and family...especialy his beautiful little daughters. Rest in peace my friend; it was an honor to have known you.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Seargeant Watts, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Michael, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Michael's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Michael's life was about so much more than the way he died. Michael will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Sergeant Watts, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three and a half years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

The U.S. Air Force Security Forces Prayer

Lord, you have called us to be guardians of a nation founded on your principles. Whatever our tasks as Security Force men and women, we do them to serve you and Our nation.
We are proud to accept the responsibility of this high calling.
We dedicated ourselves to our vocation, and ask for guidance and courage in aiding our people to live with dignity, in safety and peace. We know that true security comes from your presence, so we pray with the psalmist:
You bless those who obey you, Lord; Your love protects them like a shield.
Use us, O Lord, as shields for your people, reflecting your security and peace

You will be missed.
God Bless you and your Family

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with Staff Sgt. Watts' wife, children, family, friends and co-workers. I am so sorry to read that his wife was in labor at the time of his accident. I was married to Alabama State Trooper Brian Nichols EOW 2/17/2002 and I am now married to Washington County Sheriff Deputy A.V. Carpenter. All of your COPS family is here for you and hurting for you. We all became a family when our loved ones became police officers and now we have even a stronger bond when one of our family members go down. We are here for you to help you along this journey you now have joined with us. God bless you all.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
