Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Edwanton Allen "Eddie" Thomas

We will never fully understand why the life of someone so young must be taken so early. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family and co-workers. May God wrap all of you in His hands and give you great comfort.

Ed, sorry I did not finish the first time. I had to gain my composure and dry my eyes. I will miss your corny messages on my cell and our conversations during shift change. Our discussions of current case law was beyond funny. You had a great sense of humor and made me laugh. Now, at least for the time being, I can only cry. The thing I will regret the most is not taking the time to take that trip on our motorcycles. I will take that trip to Whistler for both of us. You and your family will always be in my thoughts and prayers. You are a true friend and my Hero.

Ed,
I will miss the shift change with you every tuesday night, the short break for coffee and your excitement when you would hear that someone was in a pursuit. Ed even though we only had a few nights a week to spend together working the late shift I felt as if I knew you more than most know their own brother. Brother I will miss you and will be patrolling the streets of gold with you in the end. I didn't know why I stayed a half an hour late that morning but now I do. It was just to hang out with you. As we said changing shifts each time "Take care my brother from a different mother!" and God bless you and your family.

I remember the first stop Eddie made in Brier, he had a big smile on his face as he usually did, and was excited just to be doing police work. Many of stops and calls have come since then and I know he had the same smile on his face for most of them. You will be missed by me any my family, and the entire police community. Our deepest condolances to your family.
