Reflections for Trooper Joseph Anthony Longobardo
I remembered being on duty when I heard Joe had passed away from his injuries. I was shocked to see his photo on the major news networks. It truly broke my heart. Joe and I attended high school together and eventually graduated in 1992 from Amsterdam High School. We both decided to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He left for boot camp a month before I did. I had not heard from Joe since the day he left for boot camp until this awful tragedy had occurred.
Brother you will be truly miss by your friends, colleagues, and family. I want to send my regards to the Longobardo’s family. I am truly sorry for your lost.
For all the brothers and sisters who happen to serve under the thin blueline including myself, we have lost a true brother. Semper Fidelis! He had served his country and community with great honor. God bless Joe and his family. He will always be remembered.

To Trooper Longobardo and all his loved ones:
Joseph, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.
This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.
Rest in Peace, Joseph. Your memory is honored and revered today, the second anniversary of your death, and everyday.

I remember hearing about this when it happened but i just learned that the EVIL responsible got life. I hope that the ones that helped this Evil thing do this get hard time as well, because they all played a part. In some ways they are even more responsible because they had a chance to end it before you were taken. I continue to hope that the Lord makes it just a little easier as time passes.

Louie is so cute these days and more and more as he grows he looks like you. My favorite part of him is the space he has in between his front teeth because when he smiles it makes me think of you. He is such a BOY and I know you are proud of how smart and creative he is. We tell him stories about you and when he drives in his state trooper car it is the sweetest thing to see. I know you are watching over him and keeping him and Teri safe. I can't help but miss you and I know you are here because I believe it...
