“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

Mrs. Longobardo & Family,
Joe is a great man and will never be forgotten. It was a great honor to have worked with him. My prayers are with you and your family. God Bless.
The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint...
I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears...
...There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."
Rest easy brother, you are not forgotten

To the family, friends, and sisters and brothers who wear the badge of law enforcement, here we are again to cope with the loss of another officer who was doing his duty and loved doing it. He is now a hero and will be sorely missed by all.
"A Part Of America Died",
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

My deepest sympathies go out to Trooper Longobardo's family and fellow Troopers. Being from New York originally it pained me to see him lose his life but it should give every officer strength that he gave his life in protecting the citizens of his state. He protected them from this criminal who will eventually be caught and get the justice he so deserves.

Your loss is tragic and senseless because some animal and his family believe that laws do not apply to them. You are a hero in every sense of the word. As you patrol the heavens, watch over the rest of us. God Bless you and your family.

It makes me sick to know that this man that they are hunting is still out there...and that he can feel good about himself after shooting 2 Troopers the other night, and another one this past June.
Trooper Longobardo was doing a job that I'm sure that he loved, and swore that he would do to the best of his ability, and because of this, he is not gone. It is sick to think that someone could stoop so low as to ambush 2 men not unlike most of us, and kill one of them.
To the family of Trooper Longobardo, I am sorry that such a horrendous event had to happen to you.
To Trooper Longobardo, I am also sorry to you, but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did in your job.
I live only maybe 15 minutes from where this Trooper was shot, and I hope for everyone's sake that they catch this animal who is doing this.
