While it is no consolation for your loss, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Trooper Longabardo.
While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven through his selfless service to those he swore to protect.
Rest in peace my friend; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.

What a true hero and someone for everyone in Law Enforcement to look up to. This heroic servant served his country in Afghanistan and served his community as a Trooper and made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us all safe. I know I speak for many officers when I say that the next time I put my uniform on and hit the streets, I will do with much more pride, professionalism and honor. Trooper Longobardo, you served us all well and you will NEVER EVER be forgotten. God Bless you and thank you for your service. May God Bless your family, your friends and your fellow officers in this trying time! Rest easy brother, we will all see you again one day!

Joe,
We worked together in Troop K, in fact you gave me my first "ride along" when I got hired on as a Comm Spec. The Division is a lesser organization without you. You died a hero's death. You were a Trooper and a Marine, a father and a husband, and a friend. Terri and Louis, I hope you will find comfort in the fact that Joe died a hero and we all pray for you. Rest In Peace....Shield 4566

Troop, we know exactly how your family and friends feel. We too are in the middle of a manhunt looking for a scum bag that murdered one of our own.
May God bless all of those grieving for you. Please give them strength to make it through the trial, if there is one. We will keep them in our prayers.
Rest easy hero, we have the watch from here. God Speed!

I Am The Officer
I have been where you fear to be.
I have seen what you fear to see.
I have done what you fear to do.
All these things I have done for you.
I am the person you lean upon,
the one you cast your scorn upon,
the one you bring your troubles to.
All these people I've been for you.
the one you ask to stand apart,
the one you feel should have no heart,
the one you call the officer in blue,
but I'm just a person, just like you.
And through the years I've come to see
that I am not always what you ask of me.
So take this badge, take this gun,
will you take it? Will anyone?
And when you watch a person die,
and hear a battered baby cry,
then do you think that you can be
all these things you ask of me?
Rest now my Brother. We continue your watch for you.....

It saddens me to hear of the passing of a BROTHER. May God hold you in his arms and provide you with all of the glory that Heaven has to offer. May he give your family the strenght to celebrate your life and realize that you will always love and watch over them.

Joey,
You were a warrior in every aspect of your life. You were someone I looked up to and you always carried yourself in a disticnt manner in which most people could only wish to emulate. We sweated together on exercises, you have backed me up on calls, we shared laughs and war stories together at drill. R.I.P brother, you are a true hero in every sense of the word. My thoughts and prayers to your family, your wife and son, NY State Police colleagues, and Stratton ANGB colleagues. You will never be forgotten.

Trooper Longobardo,
I just read in the paper of the tragic and senseless act that took your life and has your partner in critical condition. My son-in-law was killed last September 6th, 2005. That too was a senseless act. He too was 32. My prayers are with you and all of your family. I ask God to be with all of you and please, say hello to Shawn for all of us. I am sure you will have a lot in common.
May God always Bless,
