Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the
sand,
is when I carried you. Mary Stevenson
May the angels take him to heaven and there he will watch over you and your family.....amen

Joe:
No words can express the loss we ALL feel, particularly when the loss is perpetrated by an animal who has no regard for our laws and the public we are sworn to protect. Justice, my brother, WILL be done.
But take joy in the fact that you died doing the job we all love, and the fact that because of your having been here, the world is a better place. Having recently been in a gunfight myself, I can only give thanks and praise to our Heavenly Father that I am still here, and yet wonder why you and so many of our fallen brothers were not as fortunate.
I would like to think that our Father in Heaven has a better plan for you, in a better place. As a former resident of the State of New York, I can only say that my experience with the New York State Police leads me to believe that this perp will never be allowed to rest, and the search will go on indefinitely. And if I were able to lend any assistance, it would be my honor and priviledge to help bring to justice this person.
You will live on, Joe. For you are a member of the greatest fraternity known to man...police officer. May God bless you, and your family. Rest in peace, Joe. We have the watch now. Amen.

Upon learning of this cowardly act against Troopers Longobardo and Baker I immediate felt sick, lost and extremely sad. Days after the incident my sadness changed to periods of depression upon learning of Trooper Longobardo's death, punctuated by periods of hope for the recovery of Trooper Baker. To my fellow brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement, and members of the New York State Police, please keep watch over each other as the perpetrator(s) are very much willing to cause harm to all of us. God Bless the Longobardo family.
